I want a pair of culotte shorts - basically shorts that look like a skirt

I look terrible in shorts. Years ago I had what looked like a little gathered skirt but was divided so basically shorts.

Can anyone find me anything similar? I'd be so grateful!

Make your own. It's easy.
Or google ' divided skirt '.

CassianAndor · 05/07/2019 12:18

yes, I'd like some of these. Annoyingly I've got some for DD but none for me. I'd like ones that aren't tailored but are more flowy than that, if that makes sense.

Fibbke · 05/07/2019 12:19

Yes definitely flowing not tailored.

The ones i used to have were from topshop about 20 years ago! Had a waistband and pockets! But looked like a little flowery gathered skirt

Is that the same as a Skort (not made up)
Or is a skort shorts at the back and a plain wrapover type material at the front . I had one years ago (Jeff Banks but off the market) loved it , but cannot remember the front

CassianAndor · 05/07/2019 12:40

no, a skort (which I always think sounds like Gru from Despicable Me saying 'skirt' in his crappy Russian accent) is like cycling shorts with a skirt attachment.

Fibbke · 05/07/2019 13:03

No, a skort is what my dd wears for netball! Small tight shorts with a skirt attachment.

PreseaCombatir · 05/07/2019 13:06

Something like this?

MikeUniformMike · 05/07/2019 13:07

A skort is the shorts at the back but with a skirt front. If you want one and can't find one, they are popular with golfers.
I'm not sure what the running shorts with attached skirts are called.

OP wants a divided skirt. It's a waisted skirt that looks like a skirt but is divided into legs. They can be like short palazzo pants.
They usually look like skirts unless you look closely.
H&M have some.

buzzy1 · 05/07/2019 13:09

I bought nice ones from and Mango and Fatface last summer. I’m sure I’ve seen them in H&M too

Ihatesundays · 05/07/2019 13:15

I had some lovely ones from River Island in the late 80s in a super soft material.

Yes i want shorts length too, not cropped trousers. I may literally have to make some!

Here you go. I love this brand. I have trousers from them, in the same fabric as these shorts, and they are machine washable and don't need to be ironed. Bliss.

ASOS had some nice ones last year, I wish I’d bought them. They all look a bit short this year.
How about these? www.monki.com/en_gbp/clothing/trousers-shorts/product.pleat-front-culottes-black.0484608001.html

NuffingChora · 05/07/2019 18:53

I bought these the other week and if you buy them a size up (or actually possibly even your usual size as they’re pretty generous), there’s LOADS of fabric so it almost has the effect you’re looking for. They’re much more generous than the picture suggests.

Linen Shorts

HandsUpHere · 05/07/2019 18:54

I had some in the early 90's. Are they back in? My Mum was a hoarder until last year so I doubt they survived the 'clear out'. 😂

MikeUniformMike · 05/07/2019 20:00

I've got some M&S ones from the early 1990s, and some homemade ones.

BikeRunSki · 05/07/2019 20:03

are these skirty enough?

GreenTulips · 05/07/2019 20:10

Quiz’s and ASOS have some

Not a shop I usually shop in, but I got a couple of pairs in Peacocks a few years ago. They might still sell similar.

Stumpedasatree · 05/07/2019 20:26

I got some from Monki and Asos last year. Both jersey material, not culottes as such and short rather than knee length.

30under · 05/07/2019 20:28

I found some in Tesco, of all places.

Stravapalava · 05/07/2019 22:30

I've got some from Asda for this year's holiday.
