What do you do with your hair on holiday?

DrNortherner · 27/07/2007 15:21

Mine is long and thick and VERY bushy if I don't blow dry and straigthen it. Ovb I will ber in and out of pool and sea and barnet will go all frizzy and bushy.

Any reccommendations? I'm thinking nice hats/haedscarves here as I have yet to find a product to tame it.

I thank you.

There are swim/sun products for hair, leave in conditioner type things or some are in serum form.

TBH, I just let my hair do it's own thang on holiday, but it is jaw length and fine so it's never unmanageable.

HuwEdwards · 27/07/2007 15:27

oh Northerner am with you there. Mine looks bloody awful when exposed to any humidity - never mind the pool. I often think that if I'd been born in ye olden days, I would've spent entire lifelooking like some mad old witch.

nomdeplume · 27/07/2007 15:29

Can your hairdresser recommend something hardcore ?

DrNortherner · 27/07/2007 15:29

Honestly, it's a big straw bush without styling. Hmmm. What's a girl to do?

I do take it with me usually boom boom.

CountessDracula · 27/07/2007 15:30

oh mine is the same
i just look like a madwoman in the day or try and keep hair out of pool
How about a swimming cap do those work?

DrNortherner · 27/07/2007 15:30

NDP products do not work. I promise you. They are all crap.

I'm just gonna have to pile it on top of my head and wear a big straw hat.

will get it cut the day before, so it is fairly short again and quick to do, then not worry too much. Actualyl last year I did get it braided towards the end, but it itched lik emad, so doubt I'll go for that again.
My hairdresser recomended a UV spray to protect it on holiday, was quite good.

nailpolish · 27/07/2007 15:32

get it cut the day before you go

get these really wide alice bands to keep it off your face and keep you cool
tpshop have them

nappyaddict · 27/07/2007 15:34

normally tie it back in a bun or plait it in the day and sort it out if going out on the night.

MrsBadger · 27/07/2007 15:35

yep, leave in anti-sun conditionery stuff eg thus or even stronger and slick it back into a ponytail/plait/ bun etc.

Hat/scarf may help but will still leave ends hanging out - a wide scarfy bandeau is good for stopping your scalp burning though.

CountessDracula · 27/07/2007 15:36

I once got so fed up with it in Sri lanka that I had it braided
dh wet himself laughing so I undid it all immediately (i did look a total twat, they did it so badly)

BUT

Could you get it braided properly?

nomdeplume · 27/07/2007 15:37

rofl @ I did look a total twat

dissle · 27/07/2007 15:38

Me too, i just smear it with leave in conditioner and tie it back all day. Its gorgeous then at night with loads of anti friz stuff and my straigtners on it.

CountessDracula · 27/07/2007 15:38

I looked a bit like Terry Fuckwit from Viz

DrNortherner · 27/07/2007 18:32

Getting it cut not an option, the longer it is the flater it lays. If I go shorter it sticks out at right angles.

oh how I'd love to be able to wash and go and have fabbo hair.....

Beetroot · 27/07/2007 18:35

in sun i often use a strong conditoner and leave in all day. this makes my hair more manageable. I then just let it go free

DrNortherner · 27/07/2007 18:35
