As the title says really. Apparently these are my ‘wow’ colours. Except I don’t go ‘wow’, I go bleurgh to most of them. Consultant didn’t say what type of summer I am though, so I’m curious.

I'd say most likely a brown summer, although some look like my wow colours and I'm an anemone summer.

IdblowJonSnow · 03/07/2019 22:59

Apart from the brown I love those colours!

ilovecherries · 03/07/2019 23:13

Would you say that blue is cobalt? Brown is a colour that just kills me really, and that green feels a bit yellow based. I think I’m confused as my wallet has mainly pastels in it.

They look quite blue based to me. Not warm at all.

You should probably go back and ask your consultant.
I'm a brown summer and you haven't got enough of the browns (but I may be wrong).
You could join the HOC Facebook group facebook.com/groups/HOCcolourzone and ask there.

Can’t go back to my consultant. I wasn’t confident with her anyway, and she stopped trading not long after I saw her. I wasn’t even aware that there were different types of summer till someone asked me months later. I’m just curious really, as those drapes don’t look like most of the colours in my wallet, and most don’t seem to suit me - or are impossible to find, and last night I was tidying my camera roll, and found this from a couple of years ago. I will join that group, thanks!

Brown is a tricky colour to find if you're a summer, most browns (like chocolate brown) are too warm. I'm surprised that your consultant didn't give you more info. Did you get the colour chart with the stars and ticks on it?

My MiL and I had our colours done 25 years ago. I am a sweet pea summer and she was a winter. (Can't remember what catagory.)
MiL never felt quite right in her designated colours. Our original HoC consultant stopped trading so I swapped to another one.
I happened to mention about my MiL and she said to bring her along for to be checked at no charge.
She turned out to be a blue Spring and immediately just knew they were the right colours for her. The HoC didn't charge her for the reassessment, booklets or new swatch wallet even though it hadn't been her mistake.
I would contact another HoC consultant and ask if you can be rechecked. Once you're confident about your colours it makes shopping so much easier.

bleughhh · 04/07/2019 09:12

Hmm. I was misdiagnosed by HOC (two different times - a bright spring once and a winter once) and CMB had me as a 'clear spring' or 'clear and warm' twice. Finally feel right with a 'true summer' diagnose from Gabi at Chromology (which is cool, mid tones and not too muted or bright) It took a long time and she put me in spring/winter colours with their lipsticks to ensure I saw the difference. I think colour analysis is really interesting (obviously!) but people can get it wrong. I'd email HOC head office and tell them you are confused and not happy - they might offer you a free re-rate with somebody who is good?

twointhemorning · 04/07/2019 14:42

ilovecherries the swatch colours are summer colours.
I've checked my swatches and the colours from left to right look like:
Coral red
Plum
Sea Green
Delphi (but I'm not sure)
Light blue grey
Rose madder
Rose brown

You can wear all the colours from the summer pallette not just your wow or ** colours.

BlueCowWonders · 04/07/2019 16:14

These look like ‘my’ colours. I was diagnosed as a ‘deep summer’.
I agree with Twoin^ that you can wear any of the colours in your wallet, and mix them all up.

shinynewapple · 05/07/2019 09:57

How is coral red a summer colour? Surely it's a warm red?

frugalkitty · 05/07/2019 13:58

Coral red is actually a pinky red, no orange/coral tone to it all so I agree it's a daft name as it's definitely a cool red and nothing like coral.

frugalkitty · 05/07/2019 14:02

I've been trying to take a photo of the reds in my wallet but the camera won't take a true enough likeness. Summer reds are burgundy (self explanatory, like a deep red wine) , cherry red (rich cherries or blood red) and 'coral' red which is a lighter red and I can't think of anything to match it to....

frugalkitty · 05/07/2019 14:06

The pink in the OPs photo looks more like musk pink than rose madder to me. I'm still saying brown summer. If you look on the Kettlewell website there's more info about each seasons type although their colours aren't exactly the same names as the HoC ones.

ilovecherries · 05/07/2019 14:20

Thanks everyone. I suppose ‘type’ of summer doesn’t really matter, I was just curious as people keep asking me, and the consultant didn’t even mention that there were different types. I suppose more fundamentally I just didn’t see any of the ‘popping’ and ‘wowing’ that allegedly happens when you wear your best colours.

OP posts:
frugalkitty · 05/07/2019 14:52

cherries I didn’t at first either, I thought I was an autumn. Other people noticed though and just the other day I tried on a top in an amethyst shade that’s one of my best colours and DH said ‘wow’. So it might take a bit of getting used to, especially if the summer colours aren’t what you usually wear.
