I also wonder why so many people on these boards recommend 50s dresses for curvier figures. Firstly I don’t think they are all that flattering if you are not slim with very gentle curves, and unless that is your usual style, like a pp said, you’d just end up looking like you are in fancy dress!

The green warehouse dress is lovely but I don't think the pleats would work on anyone who is a size 18 and has curvy hips and a tummy. There's no way I could wear it.

God love that FWM dress mmebufo. I'd immediately add a ton of silver bling bevause I'm not that tasteful but I'd feel lush.

Found a dress I like on scarlet & jo - but they don't have my size! Does anyone know if they come up big or small?

I am a size 18-20 and I go for aline or empire waist. I am also tall so try to get a dreas that is just above the knee.

If you want something cool check the fabric on the Scarlett and Jo dress as a lot of it is that hot sweaty polyester fabric and wouldn’t be very cool to wear.

Seriously I would invest in some good hold your belly in underwear, wear a flattering cut dress in a colour you suit and lots of confidence. If you are tall someone of 5’8’ in an 18 to 20 can look surprisingly good.

Phase Eight do a plus size range called Studio 8 and I thought they had some really nice dresses, here.

Debenhams also sells Scarlett and Jo - they may have the one that you want there.
Try Studio 8 if that one doesn't work - very wedding-y.

Scarlett and Jo come up big. Sometimes just one size. Sometimes a few sizes. Depends on the style. They tend to be cut for a larger chest as well. A lot of people swear by the built in elastic waist dresses but I personally hate them. Not comfortable at all. I love the look of the floaty style dresses for weddings.

Does it have to be a dress? I'm an 18/20 and always look better in wide leg pants. The only style of dress I would consider wearing in a straight shift style.

Don't truss yourself up in shapeware in summer - you'll be hot, sweaty and uncomfortable which will negate any impact it has on shape.
