I'd like some general opinions on front pleats creases down the leg

I've bought two pairs of these wide leg short trousers that are in the shops at the moment (what are these called??? They are wide enough to be culottes). They both have pleats, something I haven't worn since the 80's. One pair is floaty linen, pleats are just at the top and I think I can get used to them. They are essentially a very comfortable, upscale alternative to shorts. The other pair, some kind of polyester, have pleats at the top but the crease goes all the way down. I'm currently washing them to see if this will just wash out but I'm suspicions it won't. They are black and the crease and pleats make them look formal-ish, like casual office wear. I should have returned them but they were marked down in a sale and they are really, really comfortable. Are pleats and front creases popular at the moment?

I feel I should be wearing both of these with white dad trainers but that is a step too far for me.

Hobbs. Ted Baker and Reiss all have ones with creases. Some have a pleat. Tuck a shirt into them and accessorise with a belt. They are the more formal work ones. In the winter I’ve seen them worn with boots and heeled pumps. I think they look great.

I meant to say they are not wide enough to be culottes! I'd like to Google for outfit suggestions but don't know how to reference them. Thanks for the ideas buddy! I don't have the footwear you recommend so they will be summer things for now.

I’ve bought a pair in the sale too, I love them. I’ve been wearing them with a T-shirt but tucking it in at the front to show off the pleats and make it all look a bit more flattering. I wear them with my black Birkenstock’s but will be looking forward to paring them with jumpers and Stan Smith trainers in the autumn.

I'm going to try mine with my birkenstocks.
