What would you call this hair colour? And what make up colours would compliment it and my skin?

It's my natural colour although hormones, age and the sun have changed it from when I was younger. I have never dyed it but am getting a few white ones in it now. My hairdresser always said he'd never be able to match my natural colour completely due to all the different tones in it. I have a typically English Rose complexion and blue eyes and look both pink and pale in photos compared to friends 😩 What make up colours would make me look less pink and pale ( I wear foundation, mascara and bronzer-all with a light hand) or should I just embrace it?!

Gorgeous hair. I would call it light ash brown or dark ash blonde. Don’t really know about makeup.

I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s ash toned - it looks like a bunch of different shades with some warmth in areas, interesting as it hasn’t been coloured before!

For makeup, try using a neutral toned foundation rather than a pink toned foundation to de-emphasise your pink complexion. You might benefit from a slightly more coverage foundation if you feel that any redness still shows through.

You could try using a foundation a shade darker too (only if you actually want to stop looking pale).

As far as colours to combat being pink toned - I’m not actually sure. You can switch blush for bronzer and pink lipsticks for peachy nudes or bright colours. You can probably find shades of pink that you like eg warm toned vs cool toned.

What about a primer with green in to tone down the pink

SistemaAddict · 30/06/2019 10:00

It used to be quite red when I was younger. It took me until I was 30 to like my hair then I got to my late 30s and the sun bleached streaks into it and it went generally a lot blonder.

@ceebeejeebies I used to do that as a teenager but when I look in the mirror it doesn't look particularly rosy, it's just next to friends in photos who have much less pale skin tones.

It looks a bit bronde but it's hard to be sure as the lighting is a bit dim.

Rosemary46 · 30/06/2019 11:39

Why do you want to stop looking pink and pale if that’s your natural colouring and it works with your hair? As you said yourself, that’s the English Rose look.

If you try to look like Kim Kardashian you will just look fake.

Wear cool or neutral toned make up and ditch the bronzer.

SistemaAddict · 30/06/2019 11:44

Christ, I'd never want to look like her! Although to be fair I couldn't pick her out of a line up. I just know she's brown over brown and fake looking as they come. I can't understand the really tanned, slug eyebrows and shit loads of highlighter look. I only use a touch of bronzer to give me some cheekbones. I have an oval face that lacks definition. I just seem to stand out like a sore thumb in photos. Apart from with my children. All fair and freckled aoart from ds who hasn't any freckles. Yet.

Yeh, I wouldn't worry about being pale! I never do. My hair colour looks really similar to your. I used to call it 'tea' colour. Or ''fair'' Fair hair.

I use bourjois vanilla clair foundation, it's a really pale yellow toned light -to medium coverage make up and it takes away the slight red tone of my skin. For blusher, look at No7's ''honey'' as it is the palest bronze shade blusher you'll find and I use that to put a bit of colour back on to my face after putting on foundation. L'oreal 630 is a pinky brown Nude that looks good on me. a lot of lipsticks look so over the top on me!

weekfour · 30/06/2019 12:49

You could be describing me. An English Rose. Maybe we should hang out together then we don't need to worry about being pale?!

On a serious note, I think you just need to embrace it. I wear cooler neutral makeup. I love Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk lipstick and mauve eyeshadow. It's a pretty classic/boring look though and I get terribly jealous of my friends that can wear adventurous colours. I like the zoeva mauve pallet- it's not too dark. Too dark makes me look like a goth.
