What shall I wear to a rock gig in a fairly trendy bar?

I don’t get to many gigs these days and don’t want to look like I’m there to pick up my teenager Grin I was thinking my ripped-to-shreds mom jeans, plain white loose t shirt, converse. Does that sound ok or does anyone have any better ideas? I don’t own a jumpsuit and won’t have time to shop so it’s got to be stuff I already own!

I think your outfit sounds good, although I would probably wear a black T.Shirt,

Less chance of light shining through it & beer stains! Smile

AuntieStella · 28/06/2019 07:20

Yes, that sounds fine, unless it's going to be very hot. In which case swop the frayed jeans for frayed shorts

evilharpy · 28/06/2019 07:20

Argh I never thought of beer stains! Black might be better. I thought white as I currently have a tan and might as well get some use out of it.

It’s kind of hard to say without knowing a bit more about the style of the bar and also what the band is like. If it is rock, a black t-shirt or vest top and skinninit’s might be better. Because it’s hot right now, I’d probably wear a loose fit black motif vest top I’ve got with my grey skinnies.

If it’s more of an indie vibe then I think you’re outfit plan is fine 👍🏼

*skinnies!
*your!

Don't wear white, you'll glow if there's any UV light (which there might not be, but I'd still go with black)

evilharpy · 28/06/2019 07:30

It’s rock. A cover band playing the 80’s cock rock greatest hits. No UV light in the bar, it’s not that sort of place really.

I’m not sure about black skinnies and black vest. I have grey skinnies? What shoes with them?

The converse sound good.

A covers band? It really doesn't matter how genuinely rock you look, no real music fans will be there.

evilharpy · 28/06/2019 10:00

Wow, snob much?

I agree that I wouldn’t usually wear white to a bar in the UK as there is always somebody who is too enthusiastic and spills their drink.

Have fun!

AskMeHow · 28/06/2019 10:31

Honestly I'd just wear all black. I think if it's a trendy bar with a rock band you either go fashionable or the classic rock look, not this weird middle ground of a white t shirt and converse.

stucknoue · 28/06/2019 10:40

It depends where you live and the bar - check if they have a dress code, many do up here, but my go to is jeans (blue no rips) and a black strappy top then boots or sandals depending on time of year. If it's no jeans I wear a plain black dress. Was up much further north a couple of weeks ago at a gig and leopard print was the favourite local colour scheme followed by bright vivid colours

DuchessAnnogovia · 28/06/2019 11:54

Was at a rock gig the other day, I wore ripped black jeans, black t-shirt and converse. I don't think you'll go far wrong wearing something like that. Have a great time!

RavenLG · 28/06/2019 12:24

It really doesn't matter how genuinely rock you look, no real music fans will be there.
No 'real' music fans will give a shiny shite what anyone looks like regardless what gig you're at. Concentrate on being a nicer person rather than what others are wearing, and you might cheer up a bit.

OP, whatever you wear will be fine, unless the bar itself has any dress code. You'll see people dressed in a range of things, don't put too much stock into it. Enjoy!

Ignore that rude poster. I envy you, wish it was me going! Ripped jeans and dark tee. White tee has too much potential for beer stains etc etc. If it was me I’d go grey skinny jeans and a camisole top.
