Any hairdressers who can explain

I have mousy hair right where dark blonde, light brown, meet with a hint of red and a few greys.

Last week I dyed it using L'Oréal excellence 7.0, my hair almost matched the middle box on the guide. However when I dried it it was quite a bit darker than expected, it was much darker than the darkest on the guide. It is a rather nice bronze but I'm interested in why this may have happened.

Any ideas

I just used one of those in a 7 share and it was dark brown. No joke, I then had to strip it and do all sorts before finally spending £140 at hairdressers. And I only did it to try and blend roots in.

Never again!

If your hair is highly porous or sensitised the colour will usually sink making a shade or two darker. A month or so it will probably lift to desired shade.
