Please help! I told my girls I'd dip dye their hair for the summer holidays - I don't know what I'm doing Blush

Oops, posted too soon (can't even post!)
Do I bleach the bottom then put on permanent hair dye, or can I just use some sort of instant spray on - wash off?

1 dd has very thick, fairly dark hair. Both want it colored for all the school holiday then will cut off ready for school in September.

Colourista is good, it looks better if you paint it on the ends with a colouring brush and not in a straight line. I use foil to cover the coloured areas and you have to make sure the hair is saturated.

You will have to bleach it before. Only bleach it once and don't use a super strong one as it can fry the hair.

If you are chopping it off anyway I would bleach it.
When you are applying it, back comb where you are gonna take the bleach to, this will make sure it's not a harsh line.
Then once it's lightened putting colour on Is easy. Make sure it's really covered.
I like crazy colours or manic panic.

Following with interest as I have also promised this!

If they have fairly dark hair then you'll need to bleach it first - I did DD's with a hairbrush dipped in the bleach mix and then brushed into her hair, so it wasn't a completely solid line. Once the base colour is lightened, you can put whatever colour you want on it.

I also put a bin bag over the kitchen chair she sat in so it didn't get bleach/pink dye on it.

Have a look at the bleach london website they have alot of colours and a bleach kit.

AConvivialHost · 25/06/2019 17:55

I used a Bleach London ombre kit on my DD last year - bleach and then colour. Really easy to use and looked lovely. She has REALLY thick wavy hair, so I was surprised it took as well as it did.

Great, thanks. I'm on the bleach London site now Grin

If anyone reads this, Bleach London dye was pretty rubbish - watery and didn't really take. I had to use it twice so I could even see it (the bleach worked well though). I also used Schwarzkopf Live which was sooo much better and created a lovely vibrant color.
