Ok, what goes with rust? [clueless]

I bought a skirt. I like it, it suits me, I have birkies that go with it.

But the skirt is rust-coloured, and it only feels like it goes with black or white or brown. Are there other options I'm missing? I thought it would go with green (I own a lot of green), but it doesn't seem to ...

grey.

NotQuiteCockney · 25/07/2007 09:01

Hmmm, don't own any of that.

I have a lot of green, and some red ... [optimistic]

I guess I can see the skirt as a trial run (was in sale, and cheapish) and try to get a similar one in colours that work better with my actual wardrobe.

aqua / turquoise

was going to say hammerite

belgo · 25/07/2007 09:03

Definately not red, and probably not green either.

NotQuiteCockney · 25/07/2007 09:04

I have a lot of quite light greens. Strong green would be a disaster.

Don't think I have aqua/turquoise. Oh, I have a very light slightly bluey green tshirt, I think ...

possibly navy? depends how orangey it is.

NotQuiteCockney · 25/07/2007 10:43

Not very orange, I think? I don't really own navy, anyway.

Ah, well, at least I know rust is a non-starter. I guess because I do fine with dark brown (goes with green, red), and with orange (goes with black, blue), I thought rust would be ok.

Pity, I quite like the skirt. At least it's a learning process.

You can wear brown with rust can't you?

cardy · 25/07/2007 10:45

orange?

ahundredtimes · 25/07/2007 10:48

Don't give up on the rust just yet! Glory, you do give up quick. I like Rust. Brown and rust is good - just think of all those nails that carry it off.

taxidriver · 25/07/2007 11:01

white
navy
torquoise sounds good
bottle green

AttilaTheMum · 25/07/2007 11:33

I wear black with rust quite a lot, also navy, most shades of brown/beige/cream and some greens - olive and some dark greens.

chopster · 25/07/2007 11:38

mayeb a more khaki green?
An warm tone of yellow.

chopster · 25/07/2007 11:38

Orange might work, hadn't considered that, I have one orange shirt that might work. Brown is fine.

I don't think I'll throw it out, it just isn't as useful as I thought.

Yellow worth considering, don't think I have anything yellow that would work. I don't know what petrol blue is . I don't wear beige.

I'm so happy to have a skirt I can wear, with shoes I can wear, and no tights, I honestly can't remember when that was true. It helps that my thighs don't seem to be chafing so badly these days.

Khaki, cream, navy, some v. dark blues, some redd-ish oranges, black.

Wouldn't put anything clear yellow, pure red or bright green near it, tho'.

jalopy · 25/07/2007 19:25

Navy blue
