Ooh, new Maybelline foundation is excellent - anyone else tried it?

I think this is a new foundation. Maybelline Dream Urban Cover. Hot dang it's good.

It's full coverage but incredibly, crazily light. SPF 50. About £10. The finish is gorgeous, it gives me a really bright radiant but natural complexion with excellent coverage (I have rosacea and late forties and require something properly full coverage sadly). I keep looking at myself thinking how nice my skin looks (haven't thought this for a long time)!

Its one downside is I don't think it has an especially good staying quality. But this is in comparison to really long lasting ones - I was using Lancome Teint Idole and before that Clinique Beyond Perfecting, Revlon Colorstay etc. I've been touching it up in late afternoon and am now experimenting with a setting spray. I really want to make it work as its radiant, very natural look combined with the coverage is not something I've had in the past. I believe it's supposed to be a dupe of IT Cosmetics CC cream but I haven't tried that.

Has anyone else tried the Maybelline?

PS I'm not connected to Maybelline or doing this as any kind of promotion. I just started a thread cos it doesn't seem to have been mentioned on the Style & Beauty board and I think it's a bit of a find.

It sounded good until you said about the staying power. I have used double wear for years and always looking for a cheaper alternative.

Same as Paddington!

I would love to find a cheaper alternative to DW but would probably just save some cash by constantly trying other (inferior) foundations!

One thing I would say is Maybelline Super Stay foundation comes really close to DW. I would say the only negative is that the range of shades is much smaller.

Unfortunately neither Maybelline nor Loreal are cruelty free.

I've never used Double Wear but I'm pretty sure it has unbeatable staying power. So wouldn't compare.

But as I say I like its natural flattering finish with its full coverage so much I'm trying to make it last.

@BadTasteFlump What is the coverage/ finish of Superstay? As I say, I've never tried DoubleWear.

Really similar to DW - which is really good coverage, but buildable, so I use a stippling brush to put on a light coverage then use a little brush to go over the bits where I need a bit more (so I suppose I also then use it as a concealer). It dries quite quickly so if you do want full coverage, you can build it up in layers.

The finish is kind of between matt or glowy, I don't bother with powder and it looks nice and natural. I would definitely recommend it.

It sounds good. Maybe quite similar to the Teint Idole or Beyond Perfection I've been using?

I could kid myself all day with those that my skin underneath had taken a turn for the better and would tell myself that my often angry looking skin had really calmed down. Until I took it off in the evening and was only reminded what good coverage and staying power my foundation had Smile.

I was happy with the products but am banging on about this new one because I genuinely haven't come across its incredibly light flattering finish in a full coverage foundation. It reminds me of when I had lovely skin and would just put something light, sheer and dewy on.

I didn't know Maybelline or L'Oreal weren't cruelty free though.
