american sizings- please help they are selling out in front of me!

I am still ordering this flipping swimsuit!

I am between a size 16 and 18.

I thought american sizes were two sizes larger and tended to be on the large size so I would buy a size 12.

But figleaves is saying to buy a size 16 for an 18 , which do I do?

add 4 to the english size to find the american size..so a 12 in UK is a 16 in US

I thought it was the other way around?

mom is right it used to be one size difference but all the us sizes changed a few years back. i know a uk four is the infamous zero in US hth

even though figleaves says get the 16.

so a UK 16 would be an american 12 and a uk 18 would be an american 14

US8 is a UK12 so US 12 is a UK16

even on ebay they are only quoting one size different for these swimsuits

oh ok now i am confused lol. id go with what they say then tbh it might be old style labelling or something

Think UK sizing has become more generous in the last few years. If you are a UK 16-18 guess you will be a US 12-14 but perhaps closer to the 14 than the 12. Posh swimsuits tend to be cut longer on the body which gives you more leeway though.

Was in NY at Easter and bought everything one size smaller which was fine.

I read somewhere that you should buy swimsuits one size bigger than your dress size too - but that prob confuses you even more!!

It gets even worse if I go for their DD swimsuit as I am a 38DD which is an american size 12 or UK size 14 according to them.

with swimming costumes its really the length that is the problem and this varies so much between companies
Think you need to get one and then send it back if it does not fit.

I am going to order both and return one.
