What to wear for a fairly informal meeting

I have a meeting arranged with a potential future employer next week. It is in a town centre and not a formal job interview.

Thing is I'm not sure what to wear. Do I go dressed in business dress as if I am just going to work as normal for the day or is that a bit too over the top?

I would be grateful if anybody has any opinions?

Vaguely, what sort of job is it for, as I think it makes a difference?

I'd probably go with something smart but relaxed, rather than business dress.

Something like trousers and flat shoes with a blouse and hair up. Or maybe a dress with cardi or light jacket, but nothing too corporate.

I would do:

Cigarette or wide leg (tailored not palazzo) pants
A pretty blouse or shirt
Block heeled sandals if weather is nice, or just block heel pointy courts
Trench coat/mac/duster coat

Few ideas I like from Pinterest. I don't think there's harm in going slightly towards the smart side, shows you care.

Few more...

I think the kind of job makes a difference. Corporate law I'd go business smart, scientist I'd say jeans and a tshirt. It's still an interview, you still need to impress them and view it as a formal situation.

Type of job will make a difference, but for an informal meeting in town, even if it was a job in say a law firm, I wouldn't go with a full business suit. If it's a fairly corporate job, I'd go with a smart dress and cardi/light jacket or smart trousers and nice blouse. If it's a more casual type job, I'd just go with nice trousers and blouse/shirt/top.

My current business casual icon is Fiona Shaw in killing eve season2. Immaculate.
