Hi. I am looking for an idiot proof product to use on holidays. Preferably one with v. low levels of tanner. What would you recommend. My budget is up to £20. Thanks!

Garnier Summer Body in light colour. It's a beautiful light brown colour, never patchy even on my dry patches and it smells of apricot instead of fake tan biscuit stink! It's half price at only £3 in Wilko at the minute too, I spotted it yesterday. Google it and read the reviews. It's amazing.

Ohms11 · 09/06/2019 22:02

Thanks for that. I may try it out. I like the price too!

I use the garnier one too

I read a review and got some Palmers Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze and its great. I need to get a bit better at applying it, but it gave me a gentle colour overnight.

I love Garnier Summer Body. I read that if you have light skin you should use the dark shades and vice versa to balance out yellow/olive tones as a very pale skin wearing 'light' would look yellow but wearing 'dark' would v6e more olive. The theory works for me Smile

I use this one:

Samantha Sona Ethical Beauty - Gradual Tan

It’s not cheap as you have to pay for postage, but it gives a really lovely tan. It’s made from all natural ingredients and is palm oil-free.

I like the elemis one, though it does have a fake tan whiff. Easy coverage, non streaky, builds up a bit but not orange, lasts well, doesn't smudge sheets. Works quickly.

I love the Dove gradual tan one, both the new one & the older version are born great .I used to used san tropez & all the other expensive ones where you have to faff with the mitt. I am very very pale but the dove Medium dark is lovely it gives me face a lovely glow as well.

Skinny tan is amazing!

I haven't touched fake tan since my sisters wedding 15 years ago where the night before I'd had the biggest fake tan disaster and I had to turn up to her wedding literally looked like I'd been tango'd!

But a couple of months ago my normally very pale friend turned up for a coffee date with me with natural looking glowing skin. She looked like she had been away.. Or hitting the sunbed. Turned out it was neither. She convinced me to give skinny tan a go. Reluctantly I went to Boots and bought the wonder serum.

There are a lot of skinny tan tanning products but my favourite ones are the mousse range. The mousse I find are easier to apply and less messy than the oil ranges.

They are available in Boots or super drug but on their Facebook page or website there are always loads of special deals that work out cheaper.

I looked at you tube videos and got loads of tips on fail safe ways to apply such as dipping a tiny amount of the product into a large blusher brush to apply to hands feet and neck.

Skinny Tan has some pretty nasty ingredients in it. PEG-40 Stearate, for instance. PEG compounds have been found to open the pores of the skin, enabling environmental toxins to more easily enter the body. Also the mousse contains artificial colours. Again, something you really shouldn’t be putting on your skin.

This. I'm very pale and it gives a nice glow and you can build it up over a few days to a noticeable colour. Very natural looking. It's £3.49 in Superdrug.

ilovewelshrarebit123 · 10/06/2019 21:52

I've been using this and it's fab!

8dayweek · 10/06/2019 22:19

I know MLM products are a bit contentious on here but I like Tropic Sun Drops which you add to moisturiser / body lotion. Nice and subtle and doesn't get cakey / overly built up.

Persea · 10/06/2019 22:23

I’m also a recent convert to Garnier Summer Body (light). And I do not fake tan well. But I am very impressed with this.

adagio · 10/06/2019 22:29

I’ve got skinny tan gradual and palmers cocoa butter gradual and in my view both smell very fake tan-y, colour is fine but the smell - urgh.

Bought them (at different times!) specifically cos of reviews which says they smell ok, maybe I’m over sensitive to it?!

HermioneMakepeace · 11/06/2019 23:10

@adagio Not all fake tans smell. You need to try another one. But stay away from Eco Tan if you don’t like the fake tan smell - that stuff is vile - the worst IMO 🤢.

NaomifromMilkshake · 11/06/2019 23:19

This is the opposite end of the price spectrum but..... IMO a little goes a long way..

Exfoliate within an inch of your life, ditto moisturiser..

Then this, it is absolutely not cheap, but on me one application lasts a week....or more, and if this rain continues it will last even longer. Grin
