Outfit is mainly black with nude/gold accessories? I would prefer to wear brighter colour but budget is dictating to use things I already have!

Hello Chanandler I've never been but as you have no replies, I'll offer advice based on observations at Waterloo station over too many years commuting! If you are going to the Royal Enclosure, I think the rules are very strict on dress length, how much shoulder is on show and wearing a hat - that is more important than colour. There is a huge range in terms of very formal (posh wedding) to more informal, depending on the enclosure you will be in. I wouldn't worry so much about the colour but almost all the women wear a hat or fascinator. My tip would be to have a pair of flat shoes to wear when coming home. Some of the heels look impossible to stand up in. Hope you have a wonderful day.

It's OK in the sense that the colour is not struck out by the dress code. And you will see it worn.

But the general rule of colours for happy summer events prevails.

Thank you for the replies! This is the outfit, with either black or gold pointed flats (can't do heels).

I think you have done really well to lighten it up. I’ve also looked at the weather forecast next week - it’s meant to be a bit cloudy and not really hot (21degrees) so not too scorchio.

I think I’d go for the gold flats. Personally, I think a more understated look, like you’ve got, makes you look as if you go every year rather than the stuff that gets photographed in the papers.

Thank you Nettie, makes me feel a little better! Didn't want to feel like I looked too dull and severe!

Sophisticated, not severe!

morallybankruptme · 09/06/2019 11:21

Lol rich and posh people and their first world problems.

villainousbroodmare · 09/06/2019 11:24

Very nice. You'll look lovely.

Elllllle · 09/06/2019 11:33

Looks perfect to me. You will see all colours/patterns and the stuffy idea that you must be summery and bright is ridiculous. I prefer covered knees and shoulders otherwise anything else goes (a coloured-coordinated head piece is a given though)

Abibranning · 09/06/2019 11:38

You'll be fine every colour and shade will be worn, some outfits are amazing some understated, as long as they are dressed to the rules of the enclosure. You'll have a lovely day. Also wedges or flats only particularly if you are coming from the station. That hill is a killerSmile

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 09/06/2019 14:00

@morallybankruptme if I was rich then it wouldn't be a problem would it! Grin

Looks fine! There's no rule about wearing black (or not).

Alsohuman · 09/06/2019 14:31

That’s a very chic outfit. You’ll outclass 90% of the women there.

Bethanny · 09/06/2019 14:35

I like it, and I think you will look lovely.

As others have said, it's understated and more expensive (or classy) looking that some of the 'try hard' outfits usually on view.

Hope you have a lovely day.

MinesaPinot · 09/06/2019 15:45

It's fine. I've worn a variation of black and white several times (black dress with white/red accessories), white trouser suit with black bustier etc. Your outfit looks very chic and will be fine.
Have a lovely day!

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 09/06/2019 16:05

Thanks everyone Smile

Tres chic! Enjoy your day 🙂

Supersimpkin · 10/06/2019 21:06

Lovely! As long as you're not in the Royal Enclosure you'll be fine.
