Grey and orange patterned midi / knee length summer dress. Saw it on the street and NEED it

Walking down the street yesterday I saw a woman wearing this most amazing summer dress and I desperately want it. Unfortunately we were walking in opposite directions and I didn't want to chase her down the road to ask her about it like a stalky weirdo.

have you seen this dress?
Grey and orange large patterned, it might be floral. It wasn't garish, both colours were slightly muted.
It came down to below the knee, but not quite midi length
The material looked silky, or like a very fine cotton

The dress was summery and cool and it will make all of my swishing around town dreams come true. Please help!

A google image search led to this one from Mint Velvet www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/olivia-print-v-neck-midi-dress/23071

It wasn't this was it OP 😬

DontCallMeShitley · 03/06/2019 18:40

An idea of the style would help.
Was it a large or small print?
Which was the dominant colour, grey or orange?

DontCallMeShitley · 03/06/2019 18:46

Sorry, just realised you said large print. Have you looked at Karen Millen?

Biancadelrioisback · 03/06/2019 18:48

Now I also want this dress and I haven't even seen it!
Did it have sleeves? Was it wrap? What was the neckline?

That dress is amazing 😍 but hopefully my dress is a fraction of that price!

The dominant colour of the dress was a soft grey and the large print (maybe giant flowers?) was muted orange. It might have been a belted or wrap dress, and was the kind of dress you'd wear to a nice BBQ, rather than to slob out in the garden.

Thanks to all who are helping. I really wish I'd chased the woman down the street now. Next time. Wink

OK, please don't kill me but I think I've found it and it's nothing like I described. Confused

It's this & other stories tropical print dress .

The Street Woman was wearing a belt and denim jacket with it and it looked very cool and fresh.

Thank you all for your help. Sorry my description skills were so lacking!

And the award for the worst describer ever goes to Grin

Mosaic123 · 03/06/2019 19:34

It is lovely. Glad you found it.

DianaT1969 · 03/06/2019 19:38

Lovely! I don't think your description was too bad.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/06/2019 07:48

Ha @Tilikum I'm glad it wasn't the dress I linked! That one is lovely Smile

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/06/2019 09:50

That is a lovely dress, and I think your description was pretty good!

sanitygirl · 06/06/2019 20:31

@Tilikum I bought "your" dress today - it's really great and a bit different

Tilikum · 06/06/2019 20:45

Oh my goodness! That's great!

I'm going to get it when I'm off work tomorrow. How is the fit? Would you say it's true to size?

OP posts:
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/06/2019 21:09

I really want to get this dress too, but am always a bit mystified by the sizing unless it’s S/M/L. I’m a 10, sometimes a 12, is that a 38? No shop here so have to buy online.

Tilikum · 06/06/2019 21:18

I believe a 38 is a 10 and a 40 is a 12, but then Italian sizes are different again?!

Would you have to pay for return postage? If not, you could order one of each size then send back the one that doesn't fit?

OP posts:
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/06/2019 21:26

Thanks, tikum. It’s confusing because the size guide says 36/38 and 38/40 are both 10/12, depending on whether it’s Eur or Fr/Es sizing! No help. I could order both using my credit card or Klarna - returns tend to be really slow, and I resent having to hang about waiting for the refund. I have a lot of tops from there which are all a 36 (which I thought was a 10, god, why is it so complicated?!) but I am quite hippy so if I need a 12 it will always be on the bottom.

sanitygirl · 06/06/2019 22:32

I would size down as it's generous - I usually wear a 42 (uk size 14) in Other Stories, but I got this dress in a 40. It's quite long (fine for me as I'm 5'9) so if you're on the shorter side it will probably me more of a maxi dress

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/06/2019 22:52

Ach, it’s probably going to be too long for me, I’m 5ft 6. And good work clearing up the sizes question, sanity.
