How did it take me until the grand age of 35 to discover...

Denim jackets??! I remember trying them on when I was about 10. It was the 90s and all my friends were wearing baggy denim. I looked like a porky piggy in it. I have not looked at a denim jacket again.

This morning I threw a tantrum as I just DO NOT have any jackets that go with any of my more summery dresses. Tried on some denim jackets today and BLOODY hell they look brilliant! Ok, I had to make sure it was one that finished at my waist for it to be flattering, and as a blonde I look better in pale denim but...how did it take me so long to discover this?

Jacket was from Zara too...another brand new discovery. I've finally found a shop that suits my style, age and price.

What have you taken years to discover?

Liquid eyeliner.

Maybe I had a wobbly hand when I was younger but I just could not get the hang of it and it looked like I had used a felt tip pen - badly!

Bought one on a whim last year and found I could actually apply it properly! Very strange!

Ah yes I'm the opposite! Wore it loads when younger and now can't apply it Blush

Liquid eyeliner for me too! It makes such a difference to my small eyes, they look bigger and brighter. I feel naked without it now.

Bronzer. I always thought they would be too orange and dark for my pale skin but tried one from Bare Minerals and it's brilliant. Very subtle and cool toned which is what I wanted. Really adds polish to my make up and I just look loads better, even with a tiny bit. www.escentual.com/bareminerals/bronzers/bareminerals138/

I use it on my collar bones and shoulders in Summer too as I really don't tan at all.

Denim jackets for me, too, along with blazers! I'd been wearing cardis for years, then this year discovered much more stylish things for when I need that extra layer. Maybe school blazers had put me off.

SomeLikeItHotterThanHell · 27/05/2019 17:10

Oh yes blazers! I discovered those last year! Started off with the stiff formal ones and quickly moved onto the light, summer/more casual ones!

Where do you get your blazers? I love the jeans and blazer look on other people, always think they look cool.

YahBasic · 27/05/2019 17:41

Zara and River Island do cracking blazers - they tend to do ruched or three quarter length sleeves which are always more flattering.

I think I’ve got the same denim jacket from Zara OP, it is universally flattering!

Thanks Yah Smile

Yes Zara do lovely blazers. I'm not cool enough to wear them with jeans yet, I wear them to work! I'd like to build up a collection to wear with jeans though.
