when you take your ds to the barber , what do you ask for....

Ds is 4 btw and has thick hair that looks too bouffanty when long,but I don't want a crew cut which the barber seems to give him every time.

DS is going in about 1/2 an hour. I ask for "as short as he'll let you cut it"

Up until recently he's been petrified of the clippers, so it's scissors on top and clippers to tidy up the back.

If he's using clippers all over then a number 4 or 5 wouldn't be too short would it?

I just say "short, but I don't want to see any scalp!". Seems to work out OK

usually DH cuts it - but if he takes them to the barbers it's usually a no.2

I normally ask for short back and sides but longer on top.
Then they ask ' What number on the sides'
Errrrrr, normally say 4. Looks neat without being too short.
DS1 has really thick hair.

I ask for an 'old fashioned boys haircut with no clippers'

You probably want the clippers on the back and sides and the scissors on top to get the length you are after.
