This dress in navy - suitable for bridesmaid dress?

Hello, I can't get the picture to show the navy version but I really love this dress. I'm thinking of wearing it to be my sister's bridesmaid in July - I'm the only bridesmaid and she's said I can wear whatever I like really. I've shown her this and she says it should be fine in navy. What do you think, is it suitable or too dark?

Further info

  • I'm 5'3 and have very big boobs (am also quite overweight but not horrendously so)
  • I really don't like showing my arms so I like the fact that this has lacy sleeves.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's lovely!

needtotalkaboutit · 19/05/2019 11:27

Actually I think this is the navy - it's slightly darker than I pictured but I still really love it. Just don't want to look inappropriate! My sister is wearing a peachy pink dress so she's not going particularly traditional.

Yes! It’s beautiful fabric.

needtotalkaboutit · 19/05/2019 11:32

So it's ok for a summer wedding?

I'm so glad these responses are positive, I absolutely love the dress!

I love it, and I definitely consider suitable for a summer wedding as I have seen it beforw and seriously considered it to wear to all the weddings I have to go to this summer. Grin

KatyaZamolodchikova · 19/05/2019 11:35

If you like it & your sister like it then it’s perfectly suitable!

Helspopje · 19/05/2019 11:38

I like it but the sheer back means no bra.
I have/need industrial style bras as I’m busty at the moment and triple hooker would look horrific

Apileofballyhoo · 19/05/2019 11:38

I like it but I think it's more important that you and your DSis do, and you do! Comfortable and looking great is a great start to the day.

SleepingStandingUp · 19/05/2019 11:38

My sis married in July and we were all in navy, the dress is lovely

needtotalkaboutit · 19/05/2019 11:39

Good point about the bra! Hmmm...

You do realise that it's a Chinese copy everything site, don't you? I'd read the reviews before ordering uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.lightinthebox.com

needtotalkaboutit · 19/05/2019 11:50

I hadn't realised that goose. Sad

It's lovely and very suitable. I wouldn't purchase anything off light in the box though. That isn't a picture of the dress you'll be getting, it's not even made or designed by the them. They use designers picture and then make very cheap poorly made copies in china.
Try Chicwish or Chi Chi for similar and I can vouch for the quality.

Yes - absolutely gorgeous!

geraniumjam · 19/05/2019 11:54

They have it on YesStyle too. Not sure if that site is similar or not...

weddingplannc · 19/05/2019 12:01

Doesn't have to be no bra. You could wear a navy slip underneath (won't look weird as the front obviously isn't entirely sheer!).

chainmail · 19/05/2019 12:28

I really like this

gerbo · 19/05/2019 14:45

Oh my goodness, it's super pretty. You'll look lovely.

Loopytiles · 19/05/2019 14:47

Nice, unless the weather is super hot, in which case it’s too dark IMO.

Jamhandprints · 19/05/2019 14:50

It's lovely, but if your sister is in peachy pink I'd go for a colour that complements that. I don't think navy does really.

TheCraicDealer · 19/05/2019 14:56

What is it about that dress you like? The colour or embroidery? I think it's nice picking out the colour of your DSis's dress in the floral embroidery, subtle but nice.

ASOS have plenty of navy options, including this one which isn't dissimilar. Needle & Thread have some in a similar style as the original one you linked to, but no navy this season and they are on the pricy side.
