Beautiful dress but how to accessorise?

I've just bought a Bombshell dress at a bargain price on Ebay to wear for a formal summer event but now I need to think about shoes, bag, wrap etc.
It's cream and I don't think anything I've got will work with that - I am more of a green or navy person usually (blonde and very fair skinned). I think block heels because standing around on grass will be involved at some point but not too high because I have hypermobility and ankle issues so two inches is probably my max. Also with that dress would sandals be ok (legs are v white and a bit broken veiny) or should I wear closed shoes and tights? Has anyone got any suggestions for me?
I was also wondering whether I need to match bag and shoes and what kind of wrap or jacket would work best. So many questions! I'd be very grateful for any ideas from more stylish people.

Tights are very tricky with a cream dress as most can be seen through and black tights simply wouldn't look right.

Personally I'm a fan of cream and nude, cream and beige, cream and brown. Cream and brown is so classic - some lovely heels and a leather brown clutch would look very classy

Oh op you could also do a cream and floral coloured shoe with a clutch in one of the colours from the shoe. Have attached some examples

I never thought of floral for shoes! That could really work. Then I could pick a colour from the shoes for bag and wrap I guess.

If you want tights, you could try hold ups for a seamless/invisible effect.

I like to accessorise cream with pastel colours (pink/blue etc.) or as pp mentioned, pastel florals. Just be careful to ensure that the base of the pattern is the right shade of cream!

AdaColeman · 11/05/2019 17:04

Have you got green shoes or bag already? Cream and green is a pretty summer combination.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 11/05/2019 17:08

Love the floral suggestions above, otherwise I'd go for a jewel colour in whatever suits you best.

criminallyvulgar · 11/05/2019 17:26

No suitable shoes at all currently as I try to avoid heels but obviously can't with this dress.
Would these work or are they a bit too fussy?

Have a look at Irregular Choice for shoes

criminallyvulgar · 11/05/2019 17:35

Or maybe these

or these

I think those heels would sink straight into grass, can you find something with a big, square heel or a wedge?

sirmione16 · 11/05/2019 17:39

The link just takes us me to joe browns site but not a particular product :S

criminallyvulgar · 11/05/2019 17:39

True about the grass. I will look for wedges. Meanwhile any thoughts about the jacket v wrap decision? Are wraps completely frumpsville now?

OP posts:
sirmione16 · 11/05/2019 17:40

Wrap v jacket I think depends on the occasion. Wrap is more formal

criminallyvulgar · 11/05/2019 17:41

That's weird - when I click it goes to the right page. They are the dream girl shoes and the katherina shoes. But probably too slim heeled for grass. Sad

I saw these in M&S yesterday. They were a really gorgeous colour that would go lovely with cream?

Those are lovely!

AdaColeman · 11/05/2019 18:03

Those shoes are lovely, they have a non slip sole too, which might be good on grass.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 11/05/2019 19:11

Just about any shoe colour could work, tan for a bag against cream is very elegant. I’d go for a wrap that tones with the shoes and a tan bag I think. All the caramel colours are good with cream but a lot depends on your colouring.

AdaColeman · 11/05/2019 19:27

If you decide on those green shoes, and are looking for a wrap, have a look at John Lewis, they have a couple that you might like.

Ghost "Zara" shawl, a plain sea green, deeper shade but same tone as the shoes. Seems to have a nice border.
Or
POM Amsterdam Bird Time Scarf, Green Border with flashes of bright colours like sky blue, would be a vibrant summer look.

What ever you choose, I'm sure you will look lovely. Have a fab time!

criminallyvulgar · 12/05/2019 11:04

Love those scarves @AdaColeman but they are slightly beyond my budget - the dress cost me less than that (it was a real bargain).
I have looked at those green shoes on M&S @massistar and unfortunately they only seem to do them in a wide fitting which won't work for me at all.
I am now thinking maybe sandals and brave a spray tan the day before?
The occasion is actually my DDs graduation if that makes any difference to things. Not attended one before so I am guessing the dress code from pics on the university website.

Would coral work?
And if so, would a coral bag and wrap be too much?

OP posts:
EatenByDinosaurs · 12/05/2019 12:45

I love those coral sandals you've posted OP, and I think they'd look fabulous with the dress, which is stunning btw.
I'd probably go for a floral wrap with coral tones, and a coral bag.

AdaColeman · 12/05/2019 13:46

Oh yes, I like those sandals too!

If you are still looking for a scarf/wrap have a look at Debenhams, they have a wide selection. One that has colours that would go with the sandals is
Dorothy Perkins floral palm print scarf, but I'm not sure of the size of it.

Or an alternative would be a soft caramel jacket & a coral or caramel bag.

Graduations tend to have quite a mix of styles for parents, there will be a lot of standing around, so being in comfortable shoes is essential! Wink

criminallyvulgar · 12/05/2019 15:07

Have ordered the shoes - they do look comfortable.
This scarf do you mean @AdaColeman
I like it.
