I absolutely love make up, not the best at applying buy I enjoy giving it a go and trying new products. My most favourite item is Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Dark Pearl which i use as eye liner. It lasts all day and I love how awake it makes my eyes look.

Love trying new products, what's everyone's holy trail make up item?

@Sparklyring I might wear the Hourglass ambient lighting ethereal powder as a highlighter, its not too shimmery and subtle on fair skin. I wouldn't recommend it for darker skin.

AliceRR · 10/05/2019 22:25

I have clear skin so it does brighten and give a healthy look so was hoping the glow might be radiant rather than shiney.

It doesn’t work for me, to use it up I’m using the double take over most of my face and then just using the B&G on the high point she of my face almost as a highlighter

If you like B&B I would recommend you keep using that and then using something else for radiance like an hourglass powder

Givemealittkewan · 10/05/2019 22:33

I've never even heard of a lot of these. It's hard sometimes if you are on a budget to take a chance on something new and your previous version was far better.

I might have to start getting them to try them on me at the make up counter!

I use the usual smash box primer, Mac foundation, ysl mascara, brow stuff from benefit, and a number of age old lip glosses I've picked up along the away so I'm sure there's much better out there. No blusher and no highlighter either - so I'm way behind the times here

Help!

AliceRR · 10/05/2019 22:38

Trying some things at the make up counters is a good idea

If you’ve got the time you could try a few different brands!

They would give you some ideas re blushers and highlighters if you want them. I think most people look better with blusher if wearing foundation. I don’t think you need highlighter but you can get some nice subtle ones and radiance powders

MeMeMeYou · 10/05/2019 22:58

Heroine mascara - a japanese brand off amazon. it doesn't come off under any circumstances unless you use the same brand remover or considerable effort with oil based remover

Becca under eye brightener

I am a huge fan of Marc Jacobs Beauty. Never seems to be advertised (or it could be that I live under a rock) but I first tried his eye liner and lip liner pencils in Sephora and I was sold! So much so that I dragged a friend with me to Marc Jacobs in Mayfair so we could stock up. That was a couple of years ago and I'm still addicted. Love his lipsticks too (they have real staying power) and his pressed face powder.

Sparklyring · 10/05/2019 23:21

@Givemealittkewan I wear this blusher and really like it. Decent price and lovely colours, does need topping up throughout the day though

Givenchy Mr Radiant Bronzer healthy glow gel, it’s amazing and stops me looking washed out if I’ve been up all night with the babies (like now, it’s 3.45 😩)
Also, Dior Fix It Colour 2-In-1 Prime and Colour Correct in yellow, it’s really soft but still takes the edge off dark circles or for light contouring without the overly ‘made up’ look.

Sparklyring · 11/05/2019 08:38

@Givemealittkewan Sorry I don't understand the last post you tagged me in.

I have a really boring one. An eyeliner. The Clinique Quick liner in Smokey Brown. The reason is because it's taupe. It's really hard to find an eyeliner that's not black or blackish brown and both are too harsh for me. This is super natural whilst still making my piggy eyes much nicer.

Oh and the Laura Mercier Illuminating tinted moisturiser has been a revelation. Looks like you're wearing no makeup at all, except you look 100% less haggard.

windysowindy · 11/05/2019 10:42

@EraOfTheGrey where does one purchase this miracle Balance and Glow please?

Viviennemary · 11/05/2019 10:46

I treated myself to a couple of Tom Ford lipsticks. They are amazing. I am also tempted by the Hourglass highlighters palette. But around £56. Shock But I've not bothered much with make-up over the last few years only cheap if any at all but have now decided to get some good stuff. Also bought the Estee Lauder perfectionist foundation which is the best ever.

windysowindy · 11/05/2019 10:48

Oh sorry @EraOfTheGrey I got confused with the hourglass
Now I need them both

TheCanterburyWhales · 12/05/2019 13:07

Dior Pump & Volume. The only mascara ever to give me eyelashes.

Clinique Quickliner in "blue" but it isn't, it's a soft grey.

Clinique double powder.

Those are my only repeat purchases and only items I'm not actively seeking replacements for.

graziemille567 · 12/05/2019 13:23

I swear by Mac Studio Fix foundation - it's easily the best foundation I've ever used.
Foundation aside I have no brand loyalty and constantly try new products and different brands. Some of my faves at the moment are:
Bobbi Brown Smoky Eye mascara
Soap & Glory contour compact
Revlon rose pink lipstick
Lancôme Primer
Smashbox Primer
Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita eye palette
Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray - kept my makeup on through my whole wedding day, an absolute find.
Benetint cheek and lip stain.

FiremanKing · 12/05/2019 13:57

Besame lipsticks, all colours but especially Dusty Rose, portrait Pink and One Bite.

AliceRR · 12/05/2019 14:56

Urban decay eye primer is good

And I like benefit porefessional face primer

And there is a porefessional blotting stick for your oily bits 😬

TheCanterburyWhales · 12/05/2019 15:17

Now I realise I need Hourglass everything and Urban Decay setting wotsit.

SecretWitch · 12/05/2019 15:25

Benefit Dandelion- I use as blush as I’m very fair
The Balm- Mary Louiminizer, highlight for face and eyes
