My dress from Hebeos.co.uk is HORRIBLE

And the customer service is rubbish.

Well it's my daughter's prom dress to be fair. But it doesn't look much like the photo, it's like a sack on her, wouldn't suit her even if we spent squillions on tailoring it and they won't allow a refund. They just keep sending me stupid emails about getting it tailored to fit Angry.

So anyway, you'll probably all be a lot more savvy than me about where you buy from, but in case anyone is thinking of using Hebeos I thought I'd just say - think carefully first.

You are entitled to a full refund under the 1978 Sale of Goods Act. Quote this and tell them you'll seek legal advice.

GiveMeFiveMinutes · 08/05/2019 13:20

Can you post a picture?

Not necessarily @MaiaRindell -I just looked up the company, and they appear to be based in Lithuania. I doubt OP will get very far by quoting UK legislation at them.

nowshesaturtle · 08/05/2019 13:21

Even though they're based overseas, @MaiaRindell? I'd really like a refund....

Ah, sorry, I hadn't heard of them and assumed they were UK based.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 08/05/2019 13:28

Lithuania is in the EU, so there should be a return and refund policy.

NoBaggyPants · 08/05/2019 14:21

The relevant jurisdiction is Hong Kong according to their terms and conditions.

(And SoGA was superceded several years ago.)

How did you pay and how much was the dress?

NoBaggyPants · 08/05/2019 14:25

Lots of people with the same experience.

It says that their dresses are ‘made to order’ and they don’t accept refunds unless there is something wrong with it.

There are a lot if words in the terms and conditions that make you think it’s not going to be a simple process to return anything.

DianaT1969 · 08/05/2019 18:41

I believe that bespoke items (or if the company claims it is bespoke) is excluded from the standard EU refund legislation. Unfortunately it is common to see threads on here about problems buying clothes direct from China - particularly that the item doesn't match the image and the fit is poor. Hopefully you didn't pay much.

bellaellie · 08/05/2019 19:08

If the dress doesn't look like the picture they advertised it as, then you should be entitled to a refund?

Are you sure you chose the right size?

SpeckledyHen · 09/05/2019 06:12

Did you buy it on a credit card OP and how much was it ?
You might be able to get a charge back .

GeorgiaTrotmansParachute · 09/05/2019 09:43

You ordered a prom dress from an overseas website promising the Earth for a bargain and you are surprised that you got a poorly made ill-fitting garment?

Have you been living under a rock? There are hundred of stories about this , usually with Daily Mail sad-face parents who have blown their money on cheap tat.

You will just have to chalk it up to experience there is of a chance of a refund. Start looking for a dress in the sales....

nowshesaturtle · 09/05/2019 12:12

Sorry for the delay in replying; family crisis.

haven't been living under a rock @GeorgiaTrotmansParchute, but thanks for the thought. I just don't buy occasion wear ever often and didn't think too much of it when my daughter told me it was a site that had a good reputation. Forgive me for not being as au fait as you.

To everyone else, thanks for your replies. The dress was £105 so not a fortune. But the delivery was £21!!!

It is not awful, just not what we were expecting and it doesn't fit at all. We bought a standard size and planned to get it tailored ourselves. However, it'd need so much work, and still not be what we were expecting, so we won't waste a penny on it. I will see if I can donate it somewhere. It's not bad in itself, it's just not what we thought we were getting. Plus it swamps my daughter. It'll fit someone else.

I've chalked it up to experience, for sure.

And thanks for the link to Trustpilot. I'll be adding my own thoughts Grin
