It has sprung up on my cheek like the spawn of Satan. At first I thought it was a blind pimple as it felt like a hard painful lump but without a head. Couldn’t be squeezed (I know you’re not supposed to but the temptation!)

I tried charcoal soap, hot compresses... got some
Acnecide from the chemist which has taken the pain out but the lump is still there and doesn’t seem to be going down at all. It’s almost like the spot is now “dead” and that’s how it’s going to be left? It’s gone down since the picture so it’s not as red and a little flatter but still big and noticeable.

It’s really getting me down! Any suggestions? I just want to see that it’s actually going down so I’m not stuck with a bloody great lump forever!

Keep up with the hot compresses. I get these from time to time and it is the only thing that works for me.

@katastrophy thank you! Do they go down completely? Or stay a bit raised? I’m worried my initial attempt to squeeze has done all kinds of extra damage

Have you tried magnesium paste to draw it out? I feel your pain as I have TWO on my chin. I see people’s eyes drawn to them when they are talking to me. So depressing.

I tried the magnesium paste and a plaster last night and they have gone down lots but still feel like something is there. But nothing comes out and now they are just scabby and horrid 😩

BedraggledBlitz · 01/05/2019 22:46

I get those. They usually get squeezable after a bit - and I have to squeeze otherwise they just stay for ages. Squeeze, scab over, heal.

Maybe sudocrem to dry it out ready for the squeezing?

On the plus side they're quite easy to cover with make up cos not hot and pointy type of spot.

Aberforthsgoat · 01/05/2019 22:47

@veggiemight it started about a week ago :( it was small at first so I just left it alone but then I woke up one morning and it was practically a second head. I think the concealer I was using made it worse as it’s quite thick, so I wonder if it further clogged the pores.
I’ve been trying to go as make up free as possible although have given in to covering it up for some work things as it looks so bad.

@pameladooveorangejoof yours came with a FRIEND?! I’m so sorry. No I’ve never heard of magnesium paste, where do you get it?

Tried sudocreme didn’t really seem to do much. I thought it was ready to squeeze yesterday but it just bled a tiny bit so I think I’ve angered the beast again.

It is easy to cover which is true. Small
Mercies and all that!

I got those till I started using acnecide. The bumps took a couple of weeks to go away but the redness and pus sort of look went down quickly so they were easy to cover. I use acnecide every other day and haven't had any big spots like that for ages. I don't know if you're supposed to use it regularly but as long as it works for me I'm going to keep doing it.

tigerbear · 01/05/2019 22:50

Things that are making my spotty skin better atm:

Spot patches by Cosrx
Body Shop Himalayan face mask - feels like it’s sucking all the bad stuff out!
Nip&Fab Teen Rollerball stick
Simple charcoal cleansing stick

Worth a try!

Katastrophy · 01/05/2019 22:50

For me, they just dry up. It takes a couple of weeks to go right down and disappear. Expect for the skin to flake off on the top of the spot.

Aberforthsgoat · 01/05/2019 22:50

@flitwit99 that’s interesting I’ve got ancecide and it has taken the pain away immediately so maybe I just need to persist and the lump will shrink? prays to spot gods

I have an auto immune skin thingy and regularly get lumps bumps and boils Blush

Vics to burst, hot compass to draw out the puss, antiseptic wipe then Sudocrem. Or if you really want to dry it out quickly toothpaste.

flitwit99 · 01/05/2019 22:56

Mine shrunk eventually. But for a week or so after all the redness went away I could still feel the lumps under my skin. Not any more though, they are definitely gone.

BummyKnocker · 01/05/2019 22:59

Salicylic acid?

I would rub a tiny dot in 4x daily

FunnysInLaJardin · 01/05/2019 23:00

Germolene, every time!

OldAndWornOut · 01/05/2019 23:03

I've had a lump left by a spot like that for well over a year now, so will be taking up some or all of these suggestions.

BummyKnocker · 01/05/2019 23:06

Have you tried this for your skin? It looks like mine used to

www.avene.co.uk/face/products-for-daily-use/oily-and-blemish-prone-skin/triacneal-expert

game- changer for me, Or try The Ordinary products, I really think regular salicylic acid might help?

floraloctopus · 01/05/2019 23:06

Sorry op but I did laugh when the advert at the bottom asked if something was giving you the hump! If it's any consolation I currently have a spot the size of a small planet on the end of my nose. It's not even world book day so I can't pretend to be the gruffalo 😰

LuluJakey1 · 01/05/2019 23:06

Magnesium sulphate paste from Chemist.

It looks like ithas a yellow head! Needle soaked in dettol?

BinkyBuntyFintyCunty · 01/05/2019 23:07

Ice it. Reduces swelling. Ditto ibuprofen. Then dry out with salicylic acid containing gel/cream.

Aberforthsgoat · 02/05/2019 07:35

Salicylic didn’t seem to do anything apart from
help it grow bigger which makes NO sense to me as I’ve used it successfully before.

@bummyknocker no but I am willing to give it a go it looks like it has good reviews. Is it a cure or a prevention or a bit of both?

Thanks for all the suggestions people I’m currently lying in bed dreading looking in the mirror!

Aberforthsgoat · 02/05/2019 07:49

@floraloctopus haha it HAS given me the hump.
As well as an actual hump Grin

The only thing that has ever drawn monster spots like that to a squeezable head for me is Lush Brazened Honey face mask. It is magic. It can feel a bit burny the first time you use it but it is incredible at getting spots and blackheads to pop out so that you can get rid of them. Worth a shot if there’s a branch of Lush near you.
