How can I make a black dress look less, well, black?

Tis for a wedding

Its black, knee length, V crossover top, sparkly bits around neck.

Trying to make it look less black as its for Mum's wedding but DAMMIT it looks good!

Thinking silver shoes & bag?

can't wear a wrap as I'll be "supervising" my 3 yo DS

black is fine for a wedding
accesories are key
will you be wearing a fascinator?

MamaGryffindor · 16/07/2007 20:25

I wasn't planning to - its not a "hatty" wedding and my hair is now a sleek bob (I got rid of the choppy one!) so I think a fascinator might look a bit "stuck" there

silver is nice and summery - try accesorize as they have a sale on

coddy · 16/07/2007 20:29

I was the same as you with my sisters wedding. I was pregnant at the time so only had a black dress that would fit etc. I ended up wearing the dress and added colour by wearing pink shoes and a black hat with pink flowers attached. HTH. Have a good day x

MamaGryffindor · 16/07/2007 20:35

Hmm thats a thought

Could go for a splash of colour rather than silver. IT has a satin ribbon/belt and I could replace that with shoe colour maybe? I don't wnat to be too matchy matchy

silver bbag nad shoes

rantinghousewife · 16/07/2007 20:37

Classy bag in a vintagey colour, silk belt, a corsage in a nice contrasting colour will set it off. Yes I know they're old hat but, I don't care.

MamaGryffindor · 16/07/2007 20:37

Mum says corsage has to be either ivory or lilac .

Have plumped for ivory

RubySlippers · 16/07/2007 20:43

RubySlippers · 16/07/2007 20:44

slightly cheaper pair

rantinghousewife · 16/07/2007 20:46

Might be a bit 'beach' for a wedding but they have a pop of colour here

Pannacotta · 16/07/2007 20:46

HOw about a silver shrug? Monsoon have this type of thing (poss in sale?)...

JackieNo · 16/07/2007 20:49

Mmm - sparkly. or Cute mary janes

JackieNo · 16/07/2007 20:50

Or silver with a bit of green? (and a great price)

JackieNo · 16/07/2007 20:50

(although those last ones are a bit strange - no sizes offered, maybe a mistake)

JackieNo · 16/07/2007 20:51

Oh - it's an ornament - sorry!

MamaGryffindor · 16/07/2007 20:53

HMM yes they are a tad odd! I like the Jimmy Choos (natch) but teh FAith ones are too gold

don't like the mary janes

teh sparkly ones are nice but too pointy

OP posts:
MamaGryffindor · 16/07/2007 20:54
