Does a bikini like this actually exist? I want to spend my money but can't find what I need. Please help!

Hoping someone out there has the same problems as me and has managed to find the perfect bikini!

So I have quite a lot of scarring on my stomach from various ops. I don't scar well internally which has also left pockets of overhanging skin and all sorts of unattractive bits sticking out. I have therefore been resigned to tankinis and swimming costumes for years.

This year is the year that I have decided to say sod it and get some sunshine on my painfully white stomach but I can't wear low cut or low rise (basically normal) bikinis because the waistbands just disappear in to a fold of skin. Not good.

Any larger or higher waisted bikini seems to only come with mahoosive swathes of fabric for my bum. They make me look even larger and are just not flattering at all!

So what I need is a highish-waisted bikini with a balconette or halter neck style top that is structured enough to give post-feeding, post-45 boobs a lift and a bikini bottom that has a nice, normal higher cut back on the bottoms with maybe a high waist or a foldable waist.

Does this exist anywhere? Please? Any help very much appreciated!

Toast have lovely bikinis with high bottoms, but I'm not sure what you mean by the bum swathes.

QueenKubauOfKish · 23/04/2019 13:59

Also have a look at Banned

NicoAndTheNiners · 23/04/2019 14:08

I've just bought this from m&s. here

You can roll the waist band up or down. No swathes of fabric. I'm a size 16 with a podgy tummy and I think I looked as ok in a bikini as I'm ever going to look. Am also saying fuck it this year for the first time!

JellycatElfie · 23/04/2019 14:10

Asda have done some really nice bikinis this year. My bikini bottoms are high waisted but fit nice on the bum. The top is halter neck too. It’s sold out online but maybe worth a look in store?

Jent13c · 23/04/2019 14:18

I just did a Google and found quite a lot of high waist high leg bikinis. Particularly liked urban outfitters. You may need to mix and match for a more supportive top.

Wenttoseainasieve · 23/04/2019 14:20

High waisted high legged bikini bottoms are 'in' so they should be everywhere! Try places like ASOS, Urban outfitters, Topshop, even Primark.

Thank you thank you!
@QueenKubauOfKish - they both look lovely from the front but definitely have too much material around the bum so they end up making me look twice the size I actually am. It is a very weird thing. There is something about that almost box-like shape that is very unflattering on me.

@NicoAndTheNiners - that looks hopeful and definitely has a more normal shape to the bottoms. I would just need to try it on to see if rolling up the waistband gives me enough height at the front.

@JellycatElfie - I have never tried Asda. There is one near my Mum's so will go and look next time I am that way. Thanks!

@Jent13c - totally happy to mix and match. I didn't know Urban Outfitters did swimwear. Will go and look now!

@Wenttoseainasieve - really?! That would be fantastic if it is true. I will stock up for the next 10 years! Thanks for the recs of where to start.

Ah, ok. An urban outfitters bikini in a large is actually a UK size 10-12. That's definitely not going to work!

Por Moi have lots of well shaped/fitting bikinis.

regularbutpanickingabit · 23/04/2019 16:55

@QueenKubauOfKish Yes!! That's what I should have said. I just couldn't think of the right words! I love that cos one and could probably find a different top if that one is too skimpy. Love the top of the M&S one and the shape of the bottoms looks hopeful. Thankyou.

@Innernutshel - oooh, another new brand to me. Will check it out. Thanks!

Try m&co as well.

FlorenceLyons · 23/04/2019 17:23

Figleaves is great for bikinis - you can buy tops and bottoms separately to get exactly what you want. I've got some bikini bottoms which fold over at the top from there, so you can choose how far up you want them to come, and they also don't dig in at all.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/04/2019 17:37

I got a high waisted bottoms and cup sized/underwired top from Sainsbury's last year. But wasn't brave enough to wear it!

Also M&S had some nice separates? If you went for a mix and match type one, you wouldn't need to find the exact set.

MsSquiz · 23/04/2019 17:38

I have a couple of bikinis with high waisted bottoms and balconette bikini tops from boux Avenue, like this one

ValleyoftheHorses · 23/04/2019 17:40

Fantasie bikinis if you are a D cup or above.

ScarlettDarling · 23/04/2019 20:22

Google 'Next roll top bikini briefs'. They have a roll over waistline which you can kind of adjust to cover as much or as little of your tummy as you want. The tops come in various styles too. I really rate Next bikinis.

UtahGirl12 · 23/04/2019 20:26

I bought one from Bravissimo. Not sure how to do links, sorry, but look for the black and white gingham one? Lovely high waisted bottoms.

Sosayi · 23/04/2019 23:10

They do fabulous bikinis. Lots of high waisted and fold over ones and you can mix and match the tops

JaceLancs · 24/04/2019 08:59

I have 3 bikinis in this style
M & S
Next - bottoms roll up or down great for sunbathing
Sainsbury’s

regularbutpanickingabit · 24/04/2019 09:14

Thanks everyone. Some great ideas and links. It still looks like a lot of high waist or rollable waists have fuller material shapes for the bottom but there are definitely a few I have found that look better thanks to all the recommendations.

Thank you!

Have a look at Italian brands like Calzedonia or Yamamay - they do high waisted styles and are usually quite skimpy on the bum
