Gorgeous, elegant yet comfortable pyjamas

Yes, that might be a very tall order!

Let me give some background. I am in my 60s and love fashion, but have a set of chronic health issues that mean I am almost totally bedridden. In recent years, since I was forced to retire, I have accumulated a nice wardrobe of clothing and lovely colourful accessories, but now find that I hardly ever wear my clothes as I am in bed so much!

My current pyjamas are very old and tatty, bought mainly from supermarkets (they were Ok when new). So, I would like to divert my money into nicer things to wear in bed and those few occasions that I can get downstairs. It would be nice for my DH to see me in something better!

I have added a lot of weight recently and most of it is around my middle. My size is 14 to 16 and I am 5ft 4in. I love colour and need comfort.

Please help me with ideas, I would be so grateful as it would really help my confidence if I could look a bit nicer (DH is lovely btw and compliments me often). I will pop back to this thread as often as I can, but please bear in mind that I am very ill and may not be able to answer posts very quickly.

Thanks, adding a kimono to my birthday list!

Fave pjs for me are ted baker, definitely don’t look too “pyjama” like - more like soft jersey loungewear with nice lace panels etc. But so comfortable and light for wearing to bed too. I tend to buy the long trousers with the t shirt or long sleeve tops but they do shorts, vest tops, silk bottoms and tops, all sold as separates so can be mixed and matched. Debenhams stock and often have deals on, while ted baker themselves do them too.

Olivia Von halle - sometimes comes on the outnet - absolutely lovely in silk

Oysho too, although they're mainly synthetic fabrics. Pretty.

Oysho and Etam would have nice affordable stuff. I wear etam boxers, and a nice dressing gown / kimono doesn’t actually get slept in so could be cheaper fabric if you like it.

OMG! There are some fabulous ideas here. I am almost in tears at your kindness. Now I can try to look better and less like an invalid. My health is deteriorating fast and I feel so ugly, but these will really help.

Thank you all so much.

OP I’ve just checked back - you are not ugly and you sound strong and fabulous. I hope that you have found something that makes you feel beautiful.
