We are going to Oz. It is super exciting and I need to pack in the next 24 hours. We’ve planning it the trip itself for ages but I haven’t given any thought to clothes. Mine are boring, and a bit worn and I keep staring at the empty suitcase wondering what the hell to put in it. Can someone help me think through some kind of capsule packing strategy? All help much appreciated. We’re traveling around so temp range will be about 16-25 degrees. Thank you!

Me too- where you going? We're off to Margaret River so super casual but are you going to need smart clothes too?

We’re going on quite an epic trip. Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne mostly v casual but the odd possible need for fancy stuff. And music festival attire!

Pair of black ballet flats, pair of Birkenstock style sandals, flip flops and my trail runners as I want to get out on the trails. I only wear flats due to major bunion surgery a few years ago. clothes wise (other than running and swimwear) I am taking

  • 2 pairs jeans
  • 2 pairs shorts
  • I jersey jump suit
  • 1 pair light harem pants
  • several vest tops
  • couple of cardigans
  • couple of long sleeved tops
  • few big scarves

I am taking nothing smart though as we are not doing any evening stuff as have the kids (8&6) in tow so will be lunch focused.

That sounds v practical and has focused my mind. Also, you’ve inspired me to take running shoes as well as my ugly but comfortable fit flops and Onitsuka tiger plimsolls. Otherwise:
2 x T-shirt’s
1 x sleeveless button up top
3 x long sleeve shirt
1 jeans
1 boyfriend cut chinos
2 shorts
1 joggers
1 skirt
1 sundress

Too many bottom halves, right?!

Maybe a nice jacket to wear with jeans? And one nice dress for going out? (Not formal but casual nice, that you can wear with a jacket - the places you are going will not be warm in the evening).

That is a very good point notcontent Also, wondering about a smartish pair of shoes but don’t want to lug around kilos of stuff because we are moving about a lot
