Another find me an outfit for a wedding

I am off to a wedding in May and don't know where to start. I have put a fair bit of weight on over the last few years and have lost my confidence with clothes as a result.
I am 5 foot 4, 52 long dark brown hair and olive complexion . Size 12 / 14 but with a stomach I need to hide and so need to avoid anything too clingy or fitted
Any suggestions gratefully received and if you can add links that would be even better

I've recommended this before. I'm an apple and it's really flattering. I wore it with navy "d'orsay" flats.

Sorry for epic link!

Sorry I've just seen it's out of stock. If you search "Oasis Pressed Flower Wrap Tea Dress" there will be other stockists I'm sure or, if nothing else, it might give you some ideas.

what’s your budget and do you have boobs?

SherlockHolmes · 06/04/2019 15:26

To cover your stomach you probably need something that ruched around that area. Also patterns are more forgiving then plain colours.

Phase Eight do a lot in that style (if you know your size then have a look on EBay for real bargains)

Also I bought a lovely, very reasonable dress from Lindy Bop for a wedding recently. Didn't wear it in the end as my arms looked too bingo-wingy but it was lovely.

I'm pretty much the same age as you and think it's quite a struggle to find dresses that don't make you look frumpy.

Buy, and use, a pair of lightish weights to tone your upper arms so you can wear sleeveless dresses, and nobody will look at your tummy. Everyone is in awe of toned arms. Don't be ambitious, start at 1.5kg, but do the exercises daily; three sets of 15. The last set will hurt. But it will help and if you have boobs, it will not hurt them either. And if you do the exercise lying on the floor so you can't brace, it will help your abs too.

Thanks for the exercise advice. Which moves should I do and how long before I see a difference?

Flies, tricep dips, which work a small muscle that is otherwise hard to tone but stops the bingo wing flap dropping, and backstroke arms which is another general strength exercise and takes the move into your shoulder and back. Three to four weeks will make a difference, but do them forever. The tricep dip is the hardest to get really correct, so look at Google for a demonstration.
