If you reduced/stopped straightening your hair..

Did you notice a difference in your hair? What was the difference (healthier, grow faster, less frizzy etc).

How long did it take to see a difference and did the initial frizziness with stopping straightening subside?

Haven't straightened mine in months and it's still as frizzy as ever

lhw92 · 04/04/2019 17:57

I rarely ever straighten my hair and my hair is still frizzy 🤷‍♀️

Drying with a cotton t shirt instead of a towe and never brushing has slightly helped though

Palominoo · 04/04/2019 18:02

I have long straight hair and never straighten it and find if I blow dry it properly it doesn't need straightening.

I also brush my hair with a decent brush morning and evening as well as once it twice during the day and that keeps it sleek.

Occasionally I tie a silk scarf around a hair/head to sleep in.

No difference at all until the new, non straightened hair grew. Once it's ruined by straighteners it's ruined....in my experience anyway!

I’ve changed to a Steampod and the shine my hair has is amazing. It doesn’t dry out at all anymore.

I have very curly frizzy hair which I rarely straighten these days. The condition is better than it used to be but it’s always going to be frizzy as fuck. I am resigned to looking like Leo Sayer with lipstick.

IntentsandPorpoises · 04/04/2019 18:28

I straighten my hair because it is frizzy. And massive and not quite curly or wavy, just loads of it. A massive frizz.

I will never stop straightening my hair.

Babymamamama · 04/04/2019 18:31

I did stop straightening my hair with hot straighteners but only because I discovered keratin treatment (Brazilian blowdry) which is a revelation. No more frizz.

haverhill · 04/04/2019 18:32

Kalinka, I learned in my 1975 Top of the Pops annual that Leo Sayer chose his stage name because his hair was like a lion’s mane! Grin Be proud of your frizz.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/04/2019 19:48

Have you tried the curly girl method @kalinkafoxtrot45?

gotmychocolateimgood · 04/04/2019 19:59

I'm really lucky with my hair. I never straighten it or blow dry it. I don't own straighteners and have lost my hairdryer at the back of my wardrobe. I wash, condition, comb and air dry. No frizz.

MissKittyBeaudelais · 04/04/2019 20:06

I’m really pleased with the difference in my hair since I made some changes to how I treat it. I have long, fair hair, fine but thick texture (as in loads of it). I have it high/low lighted 4 times a year or thereabouts.

This is what I’ve done ...

I treated myself to two Mason Pearson brushes. One a detangler and the other, pure boar bristle. Expensive but....I swear, worth every penny for the health of my hair. I binned two tangle teezers. They were snapping my hair.

I brush it through, ends to crown before washing it every other day.

I shampoo with no rubbing or scrubbing and no piling it on top of my head.

Condition from mid lengths only.

Put towel on and then brush through again, ends to crown.
I’ve stopped all heated applicants. ALL. Babyliss Big Hair lives in a drawer in the spare room. Don’t use a hairdryer.

My hair has really changed from dry ends that had to be chopped every 6-8 weeks so that it never really looked any longer to shiny hair with still blunt ends, that hasn’t been cut since before Christmas.

So, it took 6 months but, my hair’s really “healed” itself and I’m now not even tempted to go back to my styling ways.

“I stopped all heated APPLIANCES” 😊
