I've got a wedding on Saturday. Can you tell me which of these dresses you like best. I've uploaded them to flickr - hope it works!

I'll be wearing those shoes (probably...unless you think they are hideous).

fashion parade

I have to go out for a bit, but will be back for an MN-slating later.

Lol at Olive exposing herself as nosey bint and looking at all the pics!!!!

MrsSpoon · 12/07/2007 14:46

1030 or 1032, the maxis are swamping you.

oliveoil · 12/07/2007 14:47

you know you all looked at them all

I am just honest

DarrellRivers · 12/07/2007 14:47

Oh I looked at all photos too
Your hall looked very similar to our old rental house so I had to .....
Agreee with Northener about your DH.
Fine looking couple

BocoBeak · 12/07/2007 14:48

olive i'm so never asking for your advice on my personal appearance in dresses, you are like the jeremy paxman of fashion critique! I shielded myself from HIDEOUS in caps.

I like the first and second and third ones - you have nice legs.

oliveoil · 12/07/2007 14:50

yes but those shoes do not go with the maxi dresses

flat only, tis The Law

I think you look the best in the first dress but not sure if it is weddingy iyswim

MrsBadger · 12/07/2007 15:02

1030 is the best

followed by 1031, which is a nice shape (possibly just nicer than 1030) but the brown hemline on 1030 means it ties in much better with the shoes.

1029 is alright but the gathered-ness means it's not as flattering as the first two.

Demote 1027 & 1028 to garden-slumming-wear only. Or take them back.

nailpolish · 12/07/2007 15:05

i dont like the shoes

they look ike work shoes - clumpy etc

a summer wedding should be pretty sandals

MrsBadger · 12/07/2007 15:11

tbh I think the shoes are fine

Short dresses with short sleeves + pretty sandals can look not tarty as such, just a bit, well, naked. Closed toes make a simple cotton dress more formal and weddingy.

Conversely if you are wearing a long dress, a jacket, or a something with long sleeves, you often need sandals and/or killer heels to prevent the outfit looking frumpy.

nailpolish · 12/07/2007 15:13

well maybe, MrsB, but not that colour

unless bag to match

or maybe slingbacks - closed toe but not heel. a bit more summery

hijack
MrsB have you had your bby yet?

MrsBadger · 12/07/2007 15:15

was assuming small bag to match shoes...

nailpolish · 12/07/2007 15:16

if there is a small clutch bag the same colour as the shoes then i think it would be fine

but if the bag is not the same colour as those shoes i say a big fat no

6 weeks? omg are you excited? good luck! ps i remember your name thread so cant wait to hear what you have chosen

aloha · 12/07/2007 15:32

I like 1029. It is a crime to cover up legs as good as that woman - put the maxi dresses back in the wardrobe and step away!

MrsBadger · 12/07/2007 15:40
nailpolish · 12/07/2007 15:41

ahhh, these ar lovely names

i shall look out for birht announcement

SpawnChorus · 12/07/2007 16:23

Thanks for not ripping me to shreds Am beamimg at the nice comments. I had visions of this thread turning a bit 'Insurance Office Party'.

Olive (or should that be Paxolive) - I was a bit at the time when people remarked on how huge my bump was. I see now they were right.

Well, it looks like we have a clear winner. The tally is:

First place: 1030 (light blue and brown) - 11 votes

Joint second: 1029 and 1032 with 3 botes each

Taken into custody for crimes against fashion (and bosoms) - 1027 and 1028

DH will if I show him this thread.

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 12/07/2007 16:30

but have you a small bag to match shoes?

eh?

oliveoil · 12/07/2007 16:31

my bump was huge, it entered the room about an hour before me (and my arse)

you look fab in all the pics

are you getting new shoes?

SpawnChorus · 12/07/2007 16:52

Won't have time to buy more shoes before Saturday I do have a brown bag, but it's not exactly small. I don't do small bags.

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 12/07/2007 16:56

how small is 'not exactly'?
A5 you could get away with (don't put it on your shoulder) but anything bigger than 20x20cm risks overwhelming the dress

SpawnChorus · 12/07/2007 17:00

It's bigger than A4. And it's a shoulder bag.

OK....I confess...it's my ONLY handbag. I love it and no one is going to separate me from it....Don't take it awaaaaaayyyy!!

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 12/07/2007 17:04

noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

you will look like you're going to work

get a small brown bag
needn't even be real leather so long as colour is close
Next, or Debenhams, or cheap shoe shops

tis late night opening tonight..

SpawnChorus · 12/07/2007 17:23

Uh uh. No frock comes between me and my bag. We are soulmates. I will have to get DH to carry it.

OP posts:
nailpolish · 12/07/2007 18:08

SCREAM!>

please get another bag

even a 24hr tesco will have something

MrsBadger · 12/07/2007 19:11

or just take a purse in your hand and pretend it's a clutch
how much stuff can you need?
