Hyaluronic Acid recommendations please

Not The Ordinary! I’m using it atm and hate it. Loathe how it leaves what I can only describe as a ‘film’ on my face and, by the time I add moisturiser and primer, foundation often pils. Ugh! Any suggestions for something different please?

Thanks.

I agree with bear

The Ordinary does nothing for me - total waste of money.

Dragons Blood is fabulous.

BearFoxBear · 16/03/2019 20:01

I got 2 dragon's blood in tk maxx today too for a mere £10 😊

sushisuperstar · 16/03/2019 20:52

Is this the hado Kano item you are all referring to?

Want to get the right one!!

HaventGotAllDay · 16/03/2019 20:58

Dd gave me her Ordinary HA from her beauty box and I agree it's foul slimy stuff. Dunno why I'm surprised as, after falling for the hype and MN product placement a year or so back I baa baa'd my email off to that place that ships their stuff and was told they recommended 84 different serums and treatments, each more revolting and useless than what had gone before.

The Nip and Fab is great and doesn't leave that slime on your face that means your moisturiser sits like a mask.

I also have the Hada Labo but haven't tried it yet.

The Ordinary is perfectly named and the biggest example of Emperor's New Clothes on the market imo. I've not met anyone irl who likes any of their stuff.

Milomonster · 16/03/2019 21:03

@sushi yes. There is a premium version also on Amazon but I haven’t tried that one.

Golden0ldie · 16/03/2019 21:04

Havent 😂😂

Got the Dragons Blood in Boots reduced to £11 ... for one! Looking forward to trying it and getting rid of what’s left of The Ordinary.

Thanks for all recommendations.... I will come back to them if the Dragons Blood doesn’t work out.

@Milomonster thank you

VanGoghsDog · 16/03/2019 23:37

I like all TO products, except the HA!

I use Hado Labor HA. I actually prefer the non premium one as I use it more like a toner than a serum.

Milomonster · 17/03/2019 01:28

Reporting back on Dragon’s Blood - my make up looked flawless after I put it on 11 hours earlier and skin still looked plumped. I like this better than Hado Labo.

Palominoo · 17/03/2019 07:41

Dragons blood is 5.99 in tk maxx website.

Palominoo · 17/03/2019 07:51

You can get delivery to home or store.

cuppycakey · 17/03/2019 11:27

Oh I made a mistake - the one I used is Rodial, not Nip & Fab, but I will try that one as it seems less spendy....

OxanaVorontsova · 17/03/2019 15:42

I have used Rodial DB in the past and loved, will seek out N&F in TK Maxx this week, love bargain!

Currently using Dr Sebagh as I got it in Harpers Beauty box, love it but v £££££, I alternate it with Vichy 89.

BearFoxBear · 17/03/2019 23:01

I was given a Rodial dragons blood tester from a friend who works for them and couldn't tell any difference between that and the nip + fab!

FloofyDoof · 18/03/2019 06:48

I absolutely hate the ordinary one, it feels like there's a thin layer of something like pva glue drying in a sticky film on your face. Horrible.

I really rate the hada labo premium, and you can't beat it for good value, it's around 170ml for about £12, has I think 5 different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid plus 3% urea. I layer it up with thermal water spray and pat it in. Plumps up my skin enough to hide the few fine lines around my eyes. I like the not premium version too, but not as much.

I also really like the hylamide one and quite like vichy mineral 89.

Triglesoffy · 18/03/2019 06:54

Trinny Woodall recommends putting the HA on after moisturising and she does admit that it’s sticky. However, her skin is completely different to mine and the products she loves herself do not suit my skin.

Housewife2010 · 18/03/2019 12:12

I love the Niod Hyaluronic Acid. It is by the Deciem brand, but is their premium range.

NigellasGuest · 18/03/2019 12:37

Another vote here for the NIOD one.

PurplePiePete · 18/03/2019 15:17

I hate the Ordinary HA but their amino acid +B5 is amazing for hydration

zippyswife · 18/03/2019 21:28

@purplepiepete I have TO Amino acid I’m about to try. Should I use it after cleanser and before moisturiser/oil?

Golden0ldie · 18/03/2019 21:39

I bought the Nip & Fab Dragons Blood and am more than happy with it although it’s just a bit too perfumed! Do plan on trying some of the others when this is finished. Thanks for so many suggestions.

OP posts:
PurplePiePete · 19/03/2019 08:04

@zippyswife I cleanse, buffet then amino acid in the morning and cleanse, amino acid then peptides / retinol in the evening. Definitely before oil.

HaventGotAllDay · 19/03/2019 08:51

I remembered that there was something about supposedly using HA on damp skin as the molecules have to have something wet to cling onto (non technical term!) or HA actually dries out your skin, so I tried the Ordinary last night on slightly damp skin.

It's still a minging slime fest and I'm binning it.

OP- lots of Nip and Fabs smell a bit odd but once you're used to them you get to quite like it. I like both the DB smell and the No Needle Fix serum smell though both are strong. At least they don't smell like rancid milk which an "unperfumed" cream I got from the chemists did. Grin
