Dyson air wrap

Not sure which one I should buy...

Smooth and control
Volume

Or the complete one

I have a feeling the complete one will take longer to come back into stock

I have fine hair, like it straight and also bouncy.

Any experience?

Just got mine. Straight home to try it out.

My hair is usually stuck to my head. No life flat as a pancake. I sleep with a roller in the fringe.

This is the result first time using it. I’m so happy with the results.

Does your hair have a natural curl Cooking?
It looks like you've been to the hairdresser, so swishy.

Cookingwithgasnow · 19/03/2019 21:38

It’s just a mass of frizz after I’ve blown dried it.

I usually dry it, straighten it to remove frizz then curl it.

This is an example of my hair done for a night out etc. It’s usually not zero volume.

Genuinely can’t believe the bounce in my hair and with no straighteners only blow drying.

You might have done this already (and it looks great so this is more a general tip btw!), but if you want a the kind of smooth hair with wavey ends look then try using the smoothing brush on it before the curler, especially on the top. Made a big difference to mine. I don't use the smoothing brush to fully dry (although it's probably close at the top roots), but to maybe 90% at roots and say 75-80 at the ends?

Another thing that works, if you want more beachy waves, is to hold the airwrap upside down (which means you use the opposite attachment to the one you normally would for that side) and manually wrap the section round. This allows you to hold the end off (so the end is straighter) and gives more of a beachy wave than a big bounce IYSWIM?

I love the big bounce too, just for some alternative ideas!

For any Londoners, a friend (whose daughter works at Dyson) told me that if you go to their Oxford St store you can try out the products and get tips on how to use them.
I heard they were cheapest on the Dyson website but haven't checked that out.

Cookingwithgasnow · 20/03/2019 06:54

@StatisticallyChallenged

Thanks. I’ll try that out. Any tips are appreciated.

@StatisticallyChallenged do you use the hair dryer attachment to dry the hair first or do you go straight in with the smoothing brush?

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 20/03/2019 08:14

I use the dryer first, unless I've let it air dry before I start. Probably blast it to maybe 70 %dry on roots, bit less on ends. Hard to say, it's more like use the dryer til it's not soaking anymore, then use the smoothing brush concentrating mainly on roots (but my hair is straight, you'd want to involve lengths a bit more if your hair is curly I'd guess), then oncr roots are close I go in with the curler.

Cookingwithgasnow · 20/03/2019 13:15

Woke up this morning, hair has definitely reduced its bounce but it’s still better than usual. I wear my hair up for work and it seems a bit frizzier than usual (usually I straighten it) but still better than what it would be like without straightening it. I’ll be looking forward to testing other brushes and seeing what works.

@StatisticallyChallenged

Do you use the soft or firm smoothing brush?

Anyone know what the difference between them are?

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 20/03/2019 16:35

Soft one is for people who have relatively straight/smooth hair, firm one is for curlier hair.

I did find I needed to change my products a bit compared to straighteners so it took a bit of judging. It's definitely not as flat as it is after straightening, it's more like the results after being blow dried with a brush

GinandGingerBeer · 21/03/2019 18:41

Whoop! Mine arrived today GrinSmileGrin
Hoping to have a play later.

NewYoiker · 22/03/2019 17:47

If anyone is trying to find an airwrap I managed to get one from boots online using stock informer it sends out emails when boots, JL amazon and pc world all have stock in. Managed to snag one yesterday!

GinandGingerBeer · 22/03/2019 22:01

Had a play last night and I declare it fan bloody tasting. Had loads of comments on my hair today Smile
It was still curly and bouncy

stayfit · 23/03/2019 16:41

I got mine its brilliant. I went to John Lewis oxford street and actually had a play. Probably the highest amount have ever spent on hair accessories. Even hubby said it's worth it after I had it styled :)

NewYoiker · 23/03/2019 22:52

I got mine today ❤️ oh my god! I've never had such nice hair! And I mean that seriously- I've only ever had nice hair when I've paid for it at the hairdresser at £30 a pop.. I love it!

flamed12 · 23/03/2019 22:59

What attachment did you use for your results? Glad you are happy Smile

NewYoiker · 23/03/2019 23:13

The small curling barrel. It took a couple of goes to get it right and I forgot to change it over so the curls go different ways 😂

My hair has still held its shape after doing it Thursday. Just used some living proof dry shampoo (which is ££ for dry shampoo but it is the dogs bollocks and if it keeps my colour for longer and saves me from washing I care not a jot Grin)
It's definitely more wavy than curly after 2 sleeps on it but I'm actually looking forward to taking my time with it tomorrow after washing.

GinandGingerBeer · 24/03/2019 00:19

Looks great @newyorker. I did mine with the bigger barrels and mine is shorter than yours so will try the smaller ones or maybe a mixture tomorrow

Rhinofeet · 24/03/2019 10:00

I bought one yesterday from JL in Birmingham. They had a delivery of 8. 6 were left at 4pm yesterday so there's a good chance a few may be left early this morning - if this info is helpful to anyone.

I love seeing the pictures of everyone's hair! Beautiful. The demo lady taught me how to use it and I was slightly disappointed that it still looks good today. I was hoping to have a good go from stretch Grin

ServelikeSerena · 24/03/2019 17:20

I've been down the rabbit hole that is YouTube.
There are some really good honest reviews but my question is how do you get curls in the back?
No one ever seems to muck about with second mirrors but the finished product is a head fully of glossy curls.
