Right, i am fat and pregant and deeply un-stylish and need help! what can i wear?
I am 5'5 and a bit, large chest and no waist to speak of. I went shopping in Evans and came back with wide legged black trousers and bright pink smock type thing(square neck, empire waist) thought it looked okay at the time, looking bloody awful now. I am desperate not to look a complete prat, although I realise I am seriously limited to what I can wear as so big. HEEEELLLLLLPPPP!!!

I am the same size (albeit a bit taller, which may make my advice useless), and went to a wedding at same stage of pregnancy a few years ago - in a long line (pale yellow) linen jacket which fitted pre-pregnancy (Windsmoor, I think) and a black linen maternity dress (linen shift dress) from H&M. The jacket didn't do up but that didn't matter as I clearly had a bump, IYSWIM.

Try Monsoon for generous sizing if it's not all too long for you...otherwise the plus section of La Redoute?

How about this top from Dorothy Perkins, plus some smart trousers, like these or a straight skirt?

JackieNo · 09/07/2007 15:06

Or either the first or third dresses here?

JackieNo · 09/07/2007 15:12

Or Next has a lovely blue pleat front dress on page 2 of its maternity section, or a nice black and ivory printed dress on page 8. They go up to size 22.

Thanks stealthsquiggle and JackieNo some good ideas there. Like the Next stuff and DP, will look in Monsoon also, they have lovely things

Anyone else?

Typical! all of the Next outfits mentioned are sold out in my size. I guess I could always take a risk and wait until all of the new autumn stuff come out and then decide.

Last summer I was pregnant and felt just like you do. Have you thought of finding a silky kaftan that ties under the bust and wearing that over a vest and trousers?

I had a patterned thin kaftan from Next last year that saw many a wedding and christening - got more nice comments about that than any item of maternity clothing! Think I liked it as it tied under the bust so gave me some sort of shape and made it obvious I was pregnant as well!

I'm not pregnant but have just bought this to wear over cream trousers with a pashmina in the aqua colour (from John Lewis).

i am also your size and went to a christening at 6 months pregnant. i got a krinkly linen type top and linen trousers from bon marche of all places. they go up to a 26 i think, with most things having stretchy waist bands as they are designed for comfort for the mature lady! what i bought was over 2 years ago, but they do have some nice bits, and im sure it would be worth a look. and its as cheap as chips!
