Can you use a UV lamp to dry normal nail polish?

I asked for a nail polish dryer for Christmas. I've just realised it's a UV lamp not an air dryer. I have normal nail polish.

Can I use it? Will it work?

Thanks for replies. I didn't realise how expensive UV lamps can be. I just wanted a cheap nail dryer! I used a hair dryer then dipped in ice cold water in the end. That worked OK.
