Best foundation for every day

I have tried lots of foundations - e.g. Vitalumiere, Estee Lauder Double Wear etc and like both equally - yet for work I baulk at applying my best foundations everyday - yet have done this.

Currently using Maybelline mousse foundation.

Have tried higher end Revlon etc foundations but colour is never quite right - either always too dark or light.

Got samples of two lovely Bobbi Brown foundations the other week and they are lovely but should I wear them everyday?

Which mid range/price foundations do you recommend if at all?

After a light-medium coverage but don't do BB/CC creams etc.

I Use Maybelline Fit me. Also really like the Barry M foundation flawless finish(not sure but think it's called 'All Night')

Another one for the new Number 7 foundation!! I got colour-matched in store and I’ve been really impressed with it.

I was away for a couple of days recently and forgot to take my foundation (usually Double Wear, sometimes NARS)...bought Max Factor Facefinity in Tesco to get by and I LOVE it...I'm converted!

I tried the new no7 hydraluminous foundation this morning and wow!
My skin has been ultra dry and dehydrated lately, with flare ups of rosacea.
Also, to add to my woes, I get hormonal acne, and an oily t zone at the same time.
This weekend was a particularly flaky, sore and dry weekend.

This foundation blended beautifully with the real techniques sponge (over TO high spreadability primer), and looked flawless, not too dewy, not too dry looking - but covered all it was supposed to.
I was even able to build it up on my red areas with zero cakiness, or dry patches.
I keep going to a mirror to inspect it - and each time I'm bloody impressed!
I set it with RCMA no colour powder, and my skin was so soft and smooth afterwards.
I'm not overly oily either.

I am just praying this doesn't break me out, as I have tried over five new foundations this year alone, in the quest for the appearance of decent looking skin.
They either break me out, dry me out, or overload me with oil, but not this foundation. So far so good - and it was £10 instead of £15 at boots as well! Smile

I suddenly realised I quite liked the Primark dupe for ELDW (the liquid in bottle) and also the cream in a tube so will try that out too.

@beautifullymixed it’s great isn’t it?

The primark one always breaks me out after a couple of days which is a shame as I liked the formula!

Beautifullymixed · 18/03/2019 20:18

Yes, I absolutely love it!
I still have my makeup on (It's been 12 hours now Blush), and my skin is not dehydrated, parched or flaky.
Dare I hope for two wonderful foundation days??

Beautifullymixed · 18/03/2019 20:19

That was for Aberfor...

Loubyloulou88 · 18/03/2019 20:41

I'm a massive fan of the IT Cosmetics CC cream, the coverage is really good and it's available in normal, matte or illuminating. Plus all 3 versions have a great SPF level in them.

Aberforthsgoat · 18/03/2019 21:44

@beautifullymixed it’s been a week for me and I am STILL loving it. Not break outs despite just having a hellish period which normally sends me skin into horrifying pizza chin territory. My skin feels lovely and soft as well. I’m totally sold on it

IcedPurple · 19/03/2019 10:55

Does foundation really 'go off'? I'd never heard of that, at least not when it's packaged in an airtight pump bottle, as most of them are.

RockyFlintstone · 19/03/2019 11:11

The Primark £2.50 medium cover one in the squeezy tube is the absolute shizz! Its my new 'holy grail'!

MadameDD · 19/03/2019 11:32

RockyFlinstone I recall trying the Primark in the squeezy tube when it first came out and it's amazing - wish there was more colour choice though!

I did try one of my other foundations today - either a Max Factor or Revlon one in a small squeezy tube which is a surprisingly good colour match, then checked by mistake on Revlon USA website and saw they do a cream foundation that of course you can't get here.

Try Clarins everlasting. I sometimes mix it with a lighter or darker foundation to get the right colour. Lighter I mix it with a revlon foundation & darker I mix it with another Clarins but in a darker shade. It's the best foundation I've used so far & I'm sure I've tried them all.

Beautifullymixed · 19/03/2019 13:29

Aberfor I had a second wonderful day with this foundation (no7 hydraluminous), I can't believe it goes on so smoothly, and covers all my redness.
I absolutely love it!
OP - you have got to try it! Smile

IcedPurple · 19/03/2019 13:42

I was going to try the Hydraluminous because I have dry skin and thought the bottle would be handy for travel. However, because they only had 3 shades and didn't have mine - Cool Ivory - I went for the 'Lift and Luminate' instead.

Is it available in only a few shades or was it just that my Boots didn't stock the full range?

Aberforthsgoat · 20/03/2019 09:09

@icedpurple i don't think they have the most extensive range bu definitely more than three when I went in to get mine

@beautifullymixed yay glad it's still working out for you! I absolutely love it and feel great when I'm wearing it, knowing its not going to have worn off!
