Oh my God...jeans worn through at the knee. What shall i do?

I feel like a small child. My maternity jeans have worn through on the right knee (a sign of a change in my lifestyle I suppose...spend most of my time crawling around the floor with LOs). I dont want to buy new jeans as I want to lose the baby weight first (thats why I am still in maternity jeans 3 months after the birth). DH suggested a smiley face patch, but i didn't feel that it was suitable. Any other suggestions?

If your jeans are tightly fitted around the leg, you could always chop off both legs, get the bottom hemmed and make some knee-length city shorts/pedal pushers, which with tanned legs and shoes/sandals - will look very nice. Saying that, the weather we've been having so far, you may be a bit chilly.

Get in your time machine and travel back to 1988?

I got another few years out of my gardening jeans by using an iron-on denim patch on the inside.
But these were only for gardening...

denim city shorts ??

Not convinced

MascaraOHara · 07/07/2007 20:37

tear it horizontally from seam to seam, shave and fake tan

mine are worn thru at both knees & I wear them regularly, already have others for when I'm a bit slimmer so don't want to buy more..

so is the implication that I am not Cool then...?

On a more practical level - you can get denim patches from the haberdashery bits of department stores like John Lewis - I'm pretty sure I've seen denim rectangles - the colour may not match exactly but it will look better than the smiley face type thing.

MrsBadger · 07/07/2007 20:50

...esp if you use the patches on the inside

Eowyn · 07/07/2007 20:59

surely patches will make you look OLD. Very.

Gemy · 07/07/2007 21:11

I think the patches will just draw attention to the holey knee.

And I know the demin city short suggestion is not that great - but I think it better than the patch!

Or, better still, just buy some more jeans and sell them on ebay after you're in your pre-pregnancy jeans. Premium brands like Seraphine/7 for all mankind/Isabella Oliver seem to hold their value quite well.

Thank for the suggestions...I will try a patch on the inside to stop it getting any worse and then start more exercise so I can get back into my old jeans.

I never liked Bros, so I am not going to go with the fan club suggestion
