It has a crimson carpet and gold curtains with bits of crimson swirl them.

Has a dark wood fire surround.

So those are the things that can't be changed. Hubby decided to strip the wallpaper off while I was out the other day without telling me

I have no idea what to do next.

What a star he is I'd be asking what HE plans to do next?

Though if it was down to me, I'd put up lining paper and paint it a fairly neutral colour, something like a pale stone colour. Maybe a few gold and red accessories like a gold mirror and red and gold cushions. Would that work?

Did he have any particular reason for removing the wallpaper??

white! the carpet sounds enough

Busybean · 06/07/2007 22:06

Those are quite bold colours so I would say a cream on the walls would be the best, you dont want another colour, it would be too much alongside the curtains and carpet.

Beauregard · 06/07/2007 22:08

I agree that the room has enough colour with the curtains and carpet so a cream colour would be best.

Pale neutral but not white - or it'll look like the dressing rooms at Anfield.

In all fairness to dh the wallpaper is peeling off. Plus we had one of those god awful internal windows when we moved in - which we bricked up. So one wall has a very large patch of bare plaster, been like that for 4 years now

I think neutral sounds good, some sort of cream. I think white would be too stark. Thanks.
