Just found out that the hen night I'm going to tonight is smart. I've worn jeans pretty much for two years, ever since DD was born. I never go out, can't fit into my old clothes. And really don't know what normal people wear any more. Everyone else going is childless, rich and fashionable. Am scared.
But I recently bought a pair of long linen shorts (3/4 length) they make me look a bit slimmer. Is it weird to wear with smart top, tights? (too cold to bare leg it)
Any advice welcomed!

wear jeans, but with heels and sparkly top. Can't go wrong. Are you shopping for an outfit or working with your existing wardrobe?

working with existing (terrible) wardrobe

okay - do you have a sparkly or glam top? Or something kind of floaty and feminine?

No wardrobe is too terrible to pull an outfit together don't you worry!!

Stargazing - thanks for advice. Mostly just scared of looking like an idiot who rarely leaves the house...all true, but I'd rather conceal that!
No sparkly tops, but relatively Ok black one. Am deciding between dirty jeans and clean but fat-making jeans.

dirty! they will just stink of smoke at end of night anyway. Oh hang on no they won't, people don't smoke anymore, yippee! but go dirty anyway. No one will notice. You will look lovely. Go glam on the jewellery and makeup. And high of heel!

I have awful hens night tomorrow as well - ugh. Will be the only preggo person there so can;t even drink to cope. Grim.

Have a good one!

Have never met you but wish you were coming with me! You've made me feel much better!
Congrats on the bump - and hope you have a good time tomorrow.

I'm glad I could help, I know only too well what the last-minute crisis of confidence feels like.
I'll check in tomorrow and you can tell us how it was - fingers crossed for no awful L plates or penis straws! x
