Can anyone help me find some holiday clothes so I look stylish rather than frumpy? It's quite urgent.

I've had a terrible few years with my teenage dd being very unwell with her MH. I have become her carer and don't get time or have the mental energy to go shopping.

I'm taking her away in a few weeks for a complete break, which I need also. it will be very hot.
I am 5'2 and a size 12/14 depending on the shop. I have a curvy figure and look best in strong jewel colours.... no beige or mustard for me.

I feel I look dumpy in shorts but like them because they are cool to wear and practical. I struggle to find trousers because of my height.

I really want to get a few bits so I can look good, especially in the evening... happy ordering online. Ive had 3 kids so nothing too clingy over my tummy.

I don't follow fashion and live in skinny jeans and t shirts/ long sleeve tops and cardigans.

thanks

For daytime denim shorts are flattering worn with a strapless top, have a look at Matalan, also harem trousers, again Matalan or Next have some.

Karwomannghia · 26/02/2019 18:53

Maxi dresses are great

ihatethecold · 26/02/2019 19:00

yes maxi dresses are very flattering as long as they are not too long.
Ive found a few dresses on Asos. I will link them and get your opinions.

Unfortunately they only come in black but I like the style

I follow Styled by Susie on Facebook. She's been recommending the Next denim boy shorts and I'm sure she's around the same size as you. Says they're fab, loose legged and flattering. I'm planning to try them for summer

ihatethecold · 26/02/2019 19:25

I will have a look at those. thanks

they are too short for my legs unfortunately. I need a bit more coverage.

Next Petit Hareems are flattering on me 5"1 size 12. Look nice with different coloured vests and also can dress-up with a dressy vest/halter/bardot top for evening with nice sandals or jazzy wedges.

MoltonSilver · 26/02/2019 19:35

I find boden great for holiday clothes. Everything comes in different lengths.

TheFairyCaravan · 26/02/2019 20:25

I love Next chino shorts. The good thing is you can roll the legs up to the length that suits you.

I like their linen blend skirts too.

wobblebot · 26/02/2019 20:29

Op, can you link the middle asos dress please 😬

ihatethecold · 26/02/2019 21:20

I will tomorrow wobblebot. I need my laptop and I’m laying in bed! Blush

Hand you tried M&CO? I was really surprised to pick up some nice summer bits last year, I've seen some flattering looking shorts and crop trousers recently, also they do a petite range - might be worth a try and have a lovely holiday.

Sausagerollers · 26/02/2019 22:18

Wide leg jumpsuits are good. On trend, very flattering & if you wear with heels they elongate your legs.

Try searching on Next or Debenhams for some and see what you find.

Girlsnightin · 27/02/2019 10:48

I'd recommend going onto next and doing a huge order. Keep to the same colour palette. They do great bikini range and sarongs, beach bags, a great wide leg bandeau jumpsuit, so easy for an evening. On here everyone raves about the linen dress, in various colours. Denim jacket for plane and cooler evenings and a couple of cardies.

ihatethecold · 27/02/2019 14:39

Thanks everyone.

@wobblebot
this is what the dress is under on the asos website.
