If so, has anyone got a heads-up on what-we-will-be-wearing this winter? The Vogue website is not forthcoming, and I'm impatient.

If I'm wearing normal (as opposed to skinny) jeans, I roll the jeans up to the top of the boot.

Avoids sweaty calf syndrome and sort of approximates the fashionable jean in boot look.

Can make you look a bit like you're in panto, tho.

Ah well my ankle boots (they've got heels on, not flat ankle boots!) also do sterling service in the winter under my office trousers which don't really go with shoes IMHO. Plus they make a couple of inches taller .

there's always the "shoe-boot" that was doing the rounds this spring.

I think I had some of these in the early 90s, so am a bit scared of them.

I quite like them, but then I have ridiculous taste and like things aimed at teenagers (I'm nearly 37).

Saw a fab pair of purple fringed ankle books I would have loved aged 15.
