What’s the etiquette on tipping hairdressers

Do you tip your hairdresser and how much?

No. He is the salon owner and it's my understanding you don't tip the owner.

Sometimes I'll tip if a more junior staff member washes my hair or something.

No. Quite honestly, it costs enough already, I can’t afford to tip someone for doing the job that they’re already paid to do.

As someone who has worked in a salon

I agree - Don’t tip the owner ever!

If anyone is tipped, I’d suggest the junior staff. They are often training on the job with apprenticeship pay (I remember mine started at £50 per week - hideous if you don’t have the financial support at home)
