As above really, my ageing (44) oily skin is beginning to look dull and tired under Estée Lauder DL Light (Ecru 1n2) so a porcelain-y colour as I’m fair with pale blue eyes.

I could do with some SPF, something a bit brightening/dewy that doesn’t slide off my forehead in seconds and won’t aggravate the hormonal acne I seem to get now.

Probably a tall order but any recommendations? I’ve tried the Bourjois Healthy Mix and didn’t get in with it and Bare Minerals left a funny sheen on my skin so possibly avoiding those two.

Thanks!

Similar age to you and also fair with blue eyes and oily skin. I have used EL foundation in the past. More recently I’ve changed to NARS pure radiant tinted moisturiser. Despite being a tinted moisturiser, it’s oil free and non comedogenic, so won’t clog pores/exacerbate acne. I do need a touch of powder after using but I’m very happy with it. It also contains an SPF so overall, everything you’ve asked for.

Excellent! Thank you - I will have a look at the Nars counter. I did use one of theirs a long time ago and it was a good colour match but used to disappear quickly but I think I might take that over looking so “flat”

Watching with interest. I'm 46 with oily patches and wear eldw but it seems to look "flaky " on my cheeks .

Also a few crows feet round eyes so need something that doesn't look cakey.

Evanna13 · 22/02/2019 16:39

I am similar to you, just today tried the max factor facefinity foundation and so far I like it.

justilou1 · 22/02/2019 16:56

I am 46 and have found that while still oily, my skin is dehydrated. (Can’t bloody win.) At the moment it seems to like Smashbox Primerizer, ItCosmetics CC Cream (Original Formula) - woeful shade range, btw.... The foundation is basically the same but with better shades. Hasn’t hit Aussie shores yet. I also love the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Glow (really!) foundation and Too Faced Peach Perfect BB cream, but you have to work very fast with that one!

I’ll also check out the Max Factor section in the big Boots in the next town @Evanna13 as if I could find something that perks my skin up a bit and doesn’t cost as much as ELDW that would be an even bigger bonus! I look younger without foundation but just blotchy and with dark circles!

What shades are you wearing? I have a tendency to look quite yellow if I’m not careful.

I’ve just bought the Revlon photoready airbrush effect and it’s great (& cheap). Stays put on my oily skin and isn’t as heavy as ELDW so doesn’t emphasise the wrinkles.

Marcelle golden glow illuminator is amazing. It's a bb cream but stays put all day.

Evanna13 · 22/02/2019 20:38

I got the shade warm almond in the max factor Facefinity. I wear intensity 1 (ELDW light) and fairly light ( Bare minerals). These are the only foundations that I have worn for years but I feel they are not working so well on my skin anymore. I am pale, blue eyes, pink undertone.

44, oily/dry combo. I use Paula's Choice products which have got rid of my acne and Jane Iredale powder foundation which looks flat for the first hour but then blends with my natural 'shine' to look glowy. I'm really happy with this routine as I never got on with liquid foundation.

EstelleLauder · 02/03/2019 19:49

Thanks for everyone’s suggestions - I have spent the last week concentrating on actually looking after my skin a bit better and miraculously, I’m not looking quite as dull/haggard.

I’ve gone from ELDW light & some powder, taken off at night with Superdrug balm make up remover and washed in the morning with plain water to:

St Ives Apricot Scrub
Paula’s Choice BHA
Roc daycream

Nars sheer glow - Mont Blanc (slightly pink so doesn’t make me look like I’m jaundiced!) Coverage is almost as thick as ELDW Light but doesn’t get stuck in my wrinkles under my eyes and was buildable over my chin and not so “dry”
Very light swirl of Bodyshop bronzer rather than a powder to set.
Roc milk to remove at night
Roc night cream with retinol

So far the acne looks a bit better/less inflamed and my skin looks much less dull/parched/oil slickish depending on the area.

Fingers crossed for an actual glow in a few months! Thanks for the recommendations Vipers!

Fair skin and blue eyes here too. My favs are too faced peaches and cream in shade snow (i have pink undertones), too faced born this way in the same shade but less matte and the Nars tinted moisturiser is very dewy so i matte it down a bit but its a great moisturiser, spf and evens skin tone

hellenbackagen · 02/03/2019 20:18

There's just too much choice!! Argh!!

Today's little surprise was rimmel stay matte which is cheap as chips but quite heavy. Not shifted an inch tho.

Need something as good just a wee bit lighter. (Coverage)
