following on from the waterproof waterproof thread ... is it possible to get a poncho that won't make me look like a right tit?

I am 27 weeks pg, and my waterproof coats (in fact all coats) won't do up, and I'm fed up of getting soaked!

I know, I know, use an umbrella ... but I am on crutches with spd, so that's out of the question ... so, as the title says ... is it possible to get a waterproof poncho that won't make me look like a right tit?

I've googled it, and all I seem to come up with is those ones they give out at events ...

I suspect the answer is no - you may just have to resign yourself to looking like a right tit, but will google.

ejt1764 · 05/07/2007 12:14

suspected it might be a no ... but, I figured who else better to ask than the fashionistas of mn?

Could you just buy a cheap-ish man's xl waterproof, resign yourself to the sleeves being too long?

ChippyMinton · 05/07/2007 12:15

I have seen people wearing funky spotted ones this week (and cagoules too) and was wondering where they are from...

WigWamBam · 05/07/2007 12:16

What about buying a cheap waterproof or caghoul in a large size (a man's one?) instead? Outdoor shops like Millets or Oswald Bailey have them - they make them to fit XXXL sizes so unless you're very large you should find one that will fit.

JackieNo · 05/07/2007 12:16

Camouflage - people might not notice you?

Marina · 05/07/2007 12:16

Now here's a thread I can just say no to - the only people who don't look tits in ponchos are their Peruvian inventors
Are there no swing macs on the market at the mo

WigWamBam · 05/07/2007 12:20

These are camouflage too.

WigWamBam · 05/07/2007 12:21

And in all kind of colours and patterns here

ejt1764 · 05/07/2007 12:22

sigh .... well, I figured it might be a no ... the problem with men's stuff is that I'm only 5'2" ... possibly the camouflage would be the best option ... 'tis a pity I live in a city!

This one's a bit ... green ...

ChippyMinton · 05/07/2007 12:39

ejt1764 · 05/07/2007 14:22

oooh the cath kidson one is the nicest I've seen so far ...

how much should I bid - there's a couple available ...

ejt1764 · 05/07/2007 14:33

what do you think of this one?

OP posts:
ChippyMinton · 05/07/2007 14:43

Like the millets one.
Have googled and the kidston ones were originally sold in millets for £20, two years ago.

ejt1764 · 05/07/2007 14:44

The kidston ones are going for upwards of £18 now ... and those are the used ones!!

Think I might go for the millets one ...

Looking like a tit when heavily pg and on crutches is OK

Just geta cheapy and redirect to the bin so soon after the birth you have to include it on your birth plan LOL

ejt1764 · 05/07/2007 14:53

... but then that means I have to write a birth plan!

i have an orange one from the ££ shop to take to disneyland because i knew i'd be too mean to buy one there.

Saw people wearing the kidston style ponchos at legoland and they didn't look overly tit-ish TBH, so you may get some use from it. There must be some out other brands out there because i'm sure the ones i saw wern't all kidston and there were lots of them

OrmIrian · 05/07/2007 16:18

Would that be worse than looking like a left tit

I think if you are pregnant and it is raining heavily no-one with any compassion would even think of commenting.

ejt1764 · 05/07/2007 17:06

Looking like a left tit is fine!

problem is that I would feel (more) stupid ... goodness knows I have very little dignity left from the problems I've had during this pg ...

Am going to get one of the millets ones - cue a heatwave and drought!

MrsBadger · 05/07/2007 17:10

not Kidston but not far off
if it's big enough to cover a rucksack I;m sure it'll copwe with a bump...

OrmIrian · 05/07/2007 17:12

dignity! Huh....overrated.

ejt1764 · 05/07/2007 17:35

MrsBadger, I like the Millets one - I think I'll send dh into town tomorrow to try and get one!

OrmIrian - I really thought I'd plumbed the depths where dignity was concerned when pg with ds (now nearly 5!), but this time is a far more embarrasing beast ... ne'er mind - I'm sure I'll survive!
