Please help me find swimwear that doesn’t look hideous on me.

Ok. 1) I’m size 12 with an ugly mum tum that I can’t get rid of even with diet and exercise.
2) I have absolutely hideous stretch marks that, despite promises from everyone, have remained blue/purple in colour.
3) I am seriously pale. Like, blue pale with freckles. Irish parents, very dark hair, very pale skin. I have been told my skin tone and colour is at the extreme end of paleness hence why my stretch marks are so bad and. Have not really faded.

So, I’d actually like to brave a 2 piece but I don’t know what style or what colour. I cannot use fake tan as even a professional one looks silly on me and after a few days of being in the pool it streaks. I will not tan ever, even slightly so it’s not as though a natural tan would start to hide the streak.

So ideas please on style and colour. I’m guessing I need high waisted but most look so grumpy so I’m thinking the ones that look like shorts or like they gave a belt/waistband. Hit me with ideas and links. Thanks.

Swimwear 365 is a good site.

dontcallmelen · 15/02/2019 23:17

Yy swimwear 365, bravissimo, Debenhams, boden M&S can be a bit hit or miss but worth having a look at.

I like fantasie bikinis, especially ones with a fold over brief.
They feel supportive and cover up more than a lot of bikinis, and I don't think they are frumpy if you pick wisely (lots of colours/patterns to choose from).

Thanks everyone. I’ll take a look.

Try Figleaves

Bravissimo! But go in for a fitting!

TheWaiting · 17/02/2019 12:13

Thanks. Does anyone have any pointers on style or colour? I really struggle with sizing in that I need a 12 on the bottom but on top I really need a 36F or I just about fit into the more commonly found 38D/38DD. However, these don’t tend to go with a size 12 bottom. Do I need high waisted? Is there such a thing as shorts shape? As a squarer high waist looks less frumpy to me than a fuller high waist IYKWIM.

TheWaiting if you try bravissimo & 365 Boden they do mix n match sizes so can get bigger tops/smaller bottoms, also with a larger top size halter necks/Vnecks tops look better imho.

dontcallmelen · 17/02/2019 12:17

Also plenty of short type bottoms about, which you can combine with either bikini top or tankini type top (I’m 30e & get a size 10 tankini top from boden)

dontcallmelen · 17/02/2019 17:18

Was in M&S today, they had separate tops & bottoms in.

I asked this last year and was recommended a miracle suit swimwear - it looks absolutely amazing I love it (even though I’ve put on nearly 3 stone and am v unhappy with my shape)

Shanna89 · 17/02/2019 21:21

I got a For Luna one piece on the advise of someone on here last week and I love it. I'm also pale and this green colour really flatters me. I think they do it in bikini too but they are high waisted www.forluna.co.uk/collections/ladies-one-piece-retro-swimsuits/products/the-jewel-emerald-green-retro-swimsuit

ShortandSweet96 · 17/02/2019 21:32

I also have this struggle, I'm size 12 mostly, sometimes a 10 on good days but I think I the last few months I can't get away with a 10 anymore.
I also have 34G boobs which makes fitting into things and looking nice not easy.
And I'm also hideously pale, like ivory foundation is still too dark but it has to do lol.

I got an amazing high waited e price from Ann summers! It's so pretty, coral I'm colour, high waisted and the top fits slightly long line.. so no horrible second boob syndrome!

I'll try and find a photo of it but I felt amazing and had so many compliments on it!

Surprisingly Freeman’s and Very Catolouges have some lovely bikinis and you can mix and match the size also Por Moi in there swimwear have done really gorgeous bikinis and shorty style bikinis

Shanna89 · 18/02/2019 06:22

I checked and the For Luna one does come in a two piece. I honestly can't recommend them enough. I've not actually worn it in the pool yet but I can't stop trying it on because I love how it looks so much! www.forluna.co.uk/collections/high-waisted-bikini-bottoms/products/emerald-green-retro-bikini-bottoms

I also suffer from blue white skin and a flabby tum. I have found that the colour of swimwear makes all the difference. You'd need to see what suits you, but for me a warm colour like coral or burgundy makes my skin look 10x better so I'll even wear a bikini.
