My hair is a total mess, has thinned due to a thyroid problem and isn’t growing at all, so is short. Curly and fine. Not coloured but i think maybe some colour would give it a bit more oomph, and it needs shaping somehow. I do intend to see a trichologist, but in the meantime where can I go that is nice and sympathetic to dreadful hair, rather than full of distainful hair flicking twenty somethings? I am in mid Wales, so that means Cardiff probably but could do Bristol or London too, or Bath . Will throw money at it if needed !

I always used to go to Lazarou bros in Cardiff not sure if they are as good as they were but they seem to have good reviews

They have been going for decades, so I suppose they must be good or they would have closed by now. I don’t live in Cardiff , so don’t know anyone who has used them.

Errol Willy in Cardiff - one of the senior stylists. They are really lovely and welcoming there and will take time to help you discuss what you want and how to make the best of your style and there's a real mixed clientele.

Errol Willy ! Another blast from the past. Is it still in the arcade ?

I remember my school friend having a perm in Errol Willy.

Angela Gaudi in Bristol are all lovely, even the 20 somethings!
I was in there and one of the staff was really taking the time to understand what another client wanted, running through the options etc. All women and very kind and supportive (I generally get most of it shaved off!).

Matchbox Salon in Bath. Tiny place but stylist Faith is great at properly doing short women's haircuts and takes the time to figure out the best cut for you.
There is an insta and Facebook page for her but personally really recommend. And it's a stones throw from the train and bus station or right next to a big car park.

Saving grace is that my hair is curly, which stops it being too flat. It just won’t grow properly. Started taking Viviscal tablets today so I am hoping they make a difference over time. i have low vitamin d levels and iron, which isn’t helping.

Chloe at Bloggs salon in bristol

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. At the moment my hair is about the length of this pic, but a bit more curly.
I don’t even know what to ask for. I am in my fifties but have virtually no greys yet, a tiny smattering. I just wondered if some colour would make it look more voluminous.
I would have it all cut off into a short crop but I look too chubby for that at the moment, thanks also to the thyroid probs.
