Urgent - what to ask for at the hairdresser

I am having a cut and blow dry this morning and whilst I dont want anything radical, I'm not sure what to ask for to get what I want.

I have a sort of Bob which is fine but loads of hair. It kinks and waves but isn't wavy or curly. I have a side part and a very slight side swept fringe.

I don't want a graduated bob, but I want some shape at the bottom so it doesn't just hang around my face. Also it gets bulky (like a Lego lady) just when it gets under my ears.

So do I want some long layers?

Have you got a pic of what you'd like? Maybe google long bob or whatever & post a couple of pics & ppl can help better then.

Is your hair wavy/curly or straight? Blunt bob or choppy bob? Here's pics of those

Can't find a good picture. Can I have a blunt bob with long layers or is that contradictory?

I do like both the pictures so thank you but I want something like the blunt one but with some volume out on my bouffy hair

The blunt bob (as I understand it) is one length, but you can certainly have layers cut in - esp if it's more bottom heavy. My hair is v fine, but wavy, so I get long layers, esp round the face & I love it.

This one has layers cut in. But I'd go for long ones, not short. It'll give it more movement.

Thanks for all these. I sort of explained and got what I was after but it's damp and I had to go outside so we didn't bother with the blow dry so can't 100% tell yet.

I love the fern cotton cut too but my hair is too wavy to achieve that without massive effort. Hairdresser and I agreed I need to embrace the wavy bob really
