Body spray spritz or mist for an adult woman

Destinesia · 07/02/2019 17:12

I want to get a body spray for me I'm in my late 40s, to wear during an exercise class. But they all smell too overpowering, so sweet, vanillary or fruity.

Does anyone know of anything light and clean smelling that I could try. I used to like the Sanctuary one but it smells a bit like furniture polish now.

I do shower daily (and post workout) and my workout clothes are clean on for each class!
Thanks

Can I just ask why?

CatToddlerUprising · 07/02/2019 17:15

Body Shop do some lovely ones- the Japanese cherry blossom is lovely

mimibunz · 07/02/2019 17:15

I’ve never smelled one I thought was nice. Can’t you just apply perfume? There are a few young women in my office who use body spray and they smell awful. They tend to bathe in them on the lift!

tierraJ · 07/02/2019 17:19

I use Vaseline Aloe Vera antiperspirant deodorant spray & have had compliments on it

Destinesia · 07/02/2019 17:32

Why? Because in the class we have to work in pairs or small groups and you have to physically help people to get into position for some of the exercises or hold onto them if they swing too much and you end up in some rather compromising positions!

I think perfume would be too much but a body mist might be ok?

Fenjal do one that is quite nice (as in not too sweet). You can also sometimes get L'aimant by Coty (supposed to smell like Chanel No 5). Also sometimes you can get Je Reviens by Worth as a body spray - it smells quite powdery (in a good way!). Sometimes you can get Yardley perfume in a body spray form too.

Deathraystare · 07/02/2019 17:36

Oh! Also you can get Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker as well.

PrismGuile · 07/02/2019 18:27

NUXE do some lovely ones

Destinesia · 07/02/2019 18:36

Wow thanks for all the suggestions - quite a few possibilities!

I'd forgotten about Fenjal, I like that smell and the Body Shop Fijian Water Lotus Mist sounds promising, they could both be contenders. Will try the Vaseline deo spray too.

I'll also have a smell of the others you recommended Deathraystare, thank you. I tried the Lovely Body Spray on my arm earlier today, I really like it but it's quite strong, 7 hours later I can still smell it!

Thanks everyone

Personally I find people wearing any type of fragrances in the gym or class a bit nauseating and really off putting . If you wear a good deodarant, you should not need any other fragrance.

Destinesia · 07/02/2019 19:08

Point taken expat and I agree, but that's why I was asking for lighter suggestions. My anti-perspirant is bullet-proof, but it's a roll on. You've made me think that maybe a fragranced talc might work though?

I wonder if my leggings would still stay up?

Décleor Arôme Tonic is lovely and would be perfect for what you want but is discontinued and hard to get hold of now...

Roger and Gallet do some lovely "fragrant water spray" ones. There's a gingery one that smells particularly lovely.

fusioluxe · 07/02/2019 19:59

I think I’d want to smell of this if I was up close like that!

But not a must I’m afraid.
How about using a lovely scented softener for your kit?

fusioluxe · 07/02/2019 20:03

Not a mist, not not a must Grin

If you like a simple floral thenn Marks and Spencer have some quitenice single note ones.

If you don't mind spending a bit more then take a look at Clarins, Eau Dynamisante and Eau Ressourcante (spelling?) are both very nice, more of a fresh citrus and herbal type of scents than 'perfumey'. Roger & Gallet does have some nice ones. Yardley appear to have reformulated everything and are quitee dismal these days

WhatWouldChristineCagneyDo · 07/02/2019 20:32

Oh dear, typo-rama there, sorry!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 07/02/2019 20:35

4711 do a body spray. Exactly like the eau de cologne, not at all overpowering.

Mustbeoriginal38 · 07/02/2019 20:48

I love this. It is very light and smells fresh.

fusioluxe · 07/02/2019 20:50

Oooh yes Clarins Eau Dynamisante is lovely.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 08/02/2019 00:30

I don't know if there's actually a correct answer. I like ED and resinous/woody smells (eg Neal's Yard Frankincense) but I have a friend who always asks me if I'm wearing patchouli (I'm not!) which a lot of people would find offputting.
On the other hand that Clean Warm Cotton makes me gag and I detest scented fabric softeners. I know there are a lot of people here who love fabric softeners and there are a lot of people who don't. I think if you're going to wear scent at the gym (or anywhere I guess) it's likely that someone won't love it.
Maybe something like an essential oil mix (something inoffensive like citrus, cinnamon or mint) would be light enough - ? I put essential oils in a bit of vodka to make a room spray, but I'd happily spray it in my hair or on my clothes. It is very light though and dissipates quickly.

Deathraystare · 08/02/2019 07:35

Oooh yes Clarins Eau Dynamisante is lovely.

How could I forget that one! I am wearing it today!

donajimena · 08/02/2019 07:42

Hawaiian Tropic do lovely ones. Look in Boots.

evilharpy · 08/02/2019 10:26

Sorry to be negative and I know this isn't what you asked, but having to partner up with someone who had sprayed themselves with body spray before the class would probably make me not come back to the class. Artificial smells are nauseating when you're working out. It's genuinely really unpleasant and unfair on your partner.

If you're showering every day, wearing roll on anti perspirant and wearing clean kit there's absolutely no need to bother with anyone else.

teta · 08/02/2019 12:27

I do hot yoga and wear Neroli perfumes. Namely Atelier cologne Grand Neroli or Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Bianca. The studio burns a Grapefruit candle to freshen thing up so Neroli sprayed lightly isn’t offensive. Roger & Gallet do a citrus/orange blossom scented body spray that can be used in the sun, is moisturising and smells pretty good as a alternative.
