Florida in summer - what to wear?

I'm a jeans and boots person... and I know Florida is pretty casual, so I'm not bothered about dressing up as such, but I look shit in shorts, and anything linen.

What can I wear so that I don't melt, but don't have to wear linen shorts?

I'll be walking around a lot, doing 'the parks' and running round after kids...

Just a warning, Florida can be boiling in the height of summer so a big hat and something cool are a must! I've worn linen trousers in the past which worked pretty well.

We were there in September last year and it was about the hottest one there had ever been. Shorts and t-shirts were the order of the day. If you can get the t-shirts that wick away moisture, they are great. I especially found them helpful after we had been on water rides. (We were wet so often that we are soaked in almost every picture taken!) Longer shorts help prevent chub rub. I wore go-walk sandals which were great and also had a pair of Jack Wolfskin sandals that were fine, too. I also had go walks in case i ended up with a blister (I am thin-skinned)

Tons of sunscreen and drink loads! Have a great time!

I find in hot climates that a loose lightweight dress works best.

Despite being a jeans girl I just can't do shorts. They really are my least flattering item of clothing ever. (it's the hips).

I like their clothes as don't smell sweaty.. you can wear them a few times.

Shorts for the parks; better than swathes of fabric. Orlando is also prone to massive sudden downpours in August so that dress honestly wouldn’t be great if you got caught in one. Last time we went in the summer we had 3/5 days had heavy rain so do be prepared with a proper rain poncho!
