Fellow tall women, where do you buy your smart workwear?

I'm not exceptionally tall by any means, but 5'9" with a long torso. I don't have issues finding trousers to fit me, but I almost always find jackets to be a fraction too short - wearable, but I'm a bit fed up of feeling like I need to pull them down constantly.

Please let me know which brands any of you fellow taller people have had success with. I'm thinking high-end high-street - willing to spend a reasonable amount for decent quality. I've got a couple of nice Reiss suits that fit me ok, but I'd like to not have an entire work wardrobe from there.

I'm also 5'9 with long legs and long arms (but not a particularly long torso). I've just been on a workwear buying binge (after losing a lot of weight so my old stuff being huge on me) and I've found that Me & Em and The Finery both work well for me. They certainly get the arm length right although I've bought only dresses/jackets/tops so can't comment on leg length. The quality has been pretty good too. I've bought almost everything in the sale there. Got a lovely jacket from Me & Em but no way would I have been paid the £400 asking price for it.

Depending how smart you have to be...
Boden long length jersey dresses
M&S skirts tend to be a reasonable length
I live with all my sleeves on jumpers being too short.
Next do some stuff which is acceptable and comes in longer length

Avoid h&m skirts. But their trousers are ok, especially the cropped ones.

Long Tall Sally and Next. I'm 6' so options are very limited.

Long Tall Sally. Next and ASOS have a tall range, ASOS might be a bit casual but you could find something. Shirts from Gap maybe? They do a tall range now.

I'm 5 10 with a long torso. Boden long, Me and Em, The Row, Hobbs, Kooples, I K Bennett.

Next and gap tall. I recently bought a Boden Carey too for work and it is a much better length than the ravello which I had previously bought.

I find skirts sit much higher on the waist than trousers so tops don’t need to be as long.

Sleeves are a problem so I tend to buy short or 3/4 length. My best vests are long tall sally cotton stretch camis, I wear one most days.

I have jackets and suits from Zara. This season's longer length, slouchy double breasted blazers come way down to my hips

Underthecarpet · 05/02/2019 23:34

COS. It's made for tallies.

I have gorilla arms at 5’9” but am slightly short betweeen neck and waist so I can cheat a bit with waistlines.

Uniqlo is worth a look. Their merino came up trumps this year for arm length.

Arket is very good for length. Jaeger can be good. Winser London is also good for me.

I have loads of Hobbs (bulk of my work wardrobe) but I can’t see their average dress waistlines working on someone long bodied. All of their suit jackets seem to be cut at a weirdly unflattering short length. It’s piece by piece though so do try things on.

Long tall Sally and Next here too, I'm 6ft. I desperately need new clothes, especially new tops as all my clothes are worn out!

Swiftier · 06/02/2019 21:20

I would love to know! I haven’t found anywhere that really works for me. I’m 5 ft 10 and size 8. Several of the Long Tall Sally styles only go down to a size 10 and they seem to run large. Same with M&S running large. And I’m not keen on many of the styles - they’re a bit plain, I’m early 30s... I can’t find any smart trousers I like 😞

Sorry that’s not much help OP!
