Fake tan smell - Coconut Skinny Tan?

octopusrus · 04/02/2019 11:55

I seem to get a much stronger 'biscuit' smell dog food according to DH Hmm-- from fake tan than anyone else! Have seen the Coconut Skinny Tan advertised as having none of this smell bit of course I'm sceptical! Anyone tried it??

It does have a coconutty smell. It isn’t odourless in my experience.

jeaux90 · 04/02/2019 12:20

I hate the biscuit smell and I'm rubbish with fake tan so I use the Clarins fake tan drops which you put in your normal moisturiser (they have a face and body one)

Pretty fool proof with no biscuits Smile

jeaux90 ooh not heard of that - is it enough to tan legs etc? Or best just for your face?

willowtreecottage sorry that was meant to be all one message - I don't mind a coco nutty smell as long as it doesn't have the fake tan smell, is that what you meant? Thank you! Smile

It’s less fake tan -ish for sure.
🙂

Will give it a try - thank you Smile

Bondi sands tan dry oil mist doesn't have a biscuit smell, it smells of coconut.

octopusrus · 06/02/2019 13:45

Haven't heard of that, I'll look it up, thanks!

I think I am the only person on the planet who actually loves the smell of fake tan....

IMissGin · 06/02/2019 13:57

Yeah it smells like sun cream

peachgreen · 06/02/2019 14:30

@insecure123 I love it too, makes me feel summery!

octopusrus · 06/02/2019 16:59

It always smells ok when I put it on but after its developed it TOTALLY stinks on me - really awful smell. Must be something in my skin....

Clarins make the drops for face and a separate one for the body. I use the face one maybe every other day, stick it in my serum. Body twice a week. But what I really like is that you are in control of the colour. So you can do it a couple of nights in a row if you want a little darker, or just leave it subtle.

I tried a couple of other products but I smelt like a malted milk and I'm a cretin for streaking Grin

All fake tan smells after a few hours

All

Some people just don't mind, or don't have sensitive noses

WatchingTheWheels85 · 07/02/2019 06:44

Isle of paradise has less of a smell than others I've tried. It goes on clear and doesn't transfer.

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 07/02/2019 06:55

Yes, the biscuit smell - yuck! The Samantha Sona one doesn’t smell. Maybe try that. It does take a while to develop (about 8 hours) but it’s a nice colour and doesn’t seem to dry your skin as much as others I’ve tried.

I have the Skinny one and it does smell less fake tanny than the others, but it does have a definite smell. On me it gets worse as the day goes on. I do like it though.

I just cannot see how that would work if you use it at night before bed though. Doesnt it end up all over the sheets? And then there is that holiday smell all night.....

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 07/02/2019 07:17

In my experience, it only stains your sheets if it has an artificial colour put in it. Fake Bake used to be terrible for that. I had a bra stained by Fake Bake and I never got it out.

LikeACowsOpinion · 07/02/2019 07:24

Fake Bake Flawless smells like coconut - no biscuit smell at all.
You can get the 'faster' version of it too, so no ruined bed sheets - it develops in 1-3 hours depending on how deep you want the colour to be.

DianaT1969 · 07/02/2019 08:14

Another vote for Bondi Sands at Superdrug. It's less biscuit than others.

insecure123 · 07/02/2019 08:30

I LOVE fakebake flawless. It is one of my favourite tans! I also much prefer doing it at night, putting on some old jammies and just going to bed and waking up bronzed! i couldn't do with the sticky feeling all day and worrying that my underwear was going to rub it off lol

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 08/02/2019 09:41

I am put off Fake Bake Flawless because of the artificial dyes it has in it: Blue 1 (CI 42090), Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Red 40 (Ci 16035).
